I have got to say this is going to be the best update SINCE 2007@@!

Few questions,

What will happen about rares? Will they be reintroduced or permenantly gone from the game? It wont be an exact recreation of the old game without the rares market...

Why do we all have to start from scratch? Now do not get me wrong, I am not completely turned off by this prospect as it makes everything worth bucketloads again and gives everyone a fair playing field.
The thing that concerns me is that in the 6 years since that era ended a lot of the veterans (including myself and everyone I played with) have finished school and entered the working world. We cannot afford to sink the amount of time into the game to compete fairly with those that can power level day and night.

Would a fair compromise not be to retain the old accounts(who most will now have severly restricted play time) but with no items in their banks. The ones not constrained by families/work/etc starting fresh would very quickly catch up with those who cannot afford to put the proper amount of time into the game.
FYI I am talking about the accounts of the day, not todays current stats - that would be crazy. 100% sure if you have a backup of the game you have a backup of the accounts, you manage to roll back accounts all the time so they are not constantly overwritten. Only a madman would not take periodic backups!

Since it is has been the requests of these older players for the return of 2007 runescape it seems only fair that the massive disadvantage they would face be balanced slightly? Starting with nothing they would have no monetary advantages and the ones with resource gathering skills would grant the economy a small kick-start while the new players are getting to grips with the "alien" game they face and beginning the levelling up process?

If everyone is going to start fresh and all items will be gone...

How will there be any rares in the game if all of our accounts start fresh?

Why don't you let us login and continue playing from where we left off?

Haven't you ever wondered why your account doesn't have save points? That it always saves instantly where you click and every action you take? I doubt that they kept the playerbase data from then when they can just keep it running continuously. I agree that the games interfaces and such are really good now, I just hate the EoC and it's so prominent that it ruins the whole game for me. I don't think it should be 2007, 2011-2012 would be MUCH better because it would have all the new interfaces, tool belt, coin pouch, etc... Things that genuinely make your life easier.
