I quit because of EoC. I can play a better mmorpg with the same combat system (and I have). Old runescape was unique and thats why I loved it! It is worth paying 1 month just to feel that nostalgia again. $5 isnt too much to give for play runescape as it should be :) even if its only for a month.

2007 servers? Great news!

Paying extra money to play them? Jack-a$$e$!

You would think Jagex would learn their lesson by now. Wouldn't they make more money and have a better customer service relationship, by making the whole retro-server thing be open to all members at no extra cost?

They would be able to keep their current player base, and bring back all the players that previously quit. They could have the best of both worlds. But instead, they're putting limitations on the accessibility based on voter turnout.

There's no way they're going to hit the 500K mark. If they do, FANTASTIC! But if they don't, then the retro-server will be dead in a few months.

Its good to see your trying to keep your dedicated players playing the game we once loved. I dont hate nor do i like the eoc but it is bearable. Personally i think the game needs old school servers and i believe the prime time was 2007 (just before the release of godwars). The release of overpowered weapons destroyed the honour the community once had.

I look forward to this update very much and yes i will continue playing eoc as id like to max my charactar after many long years.

Ps im a massive fan of the 'Total Reset' on the 2007 servers. Its got my brain ticking on what will be the most efficient methods from the word go!

As for the introduction of rare items which i would like to see, why not make an old school drop party which will include the highly prized rare items such as Partyhats. Although some might not agree with this, we need these items in game.

"2007 servers sounds good
however if there is a *ost i am gonna stick with the current rs

you get enough money out of us already"
------------------------------------------
"I would love to play runescape 2007 at a premium BUT I will NOT play if i have to pay for membership on EoC Im not going to pay for a game that i dont play just to play a game I want to play and pay extra for. NO THANKS "

Mainit - "Jagex lower the vote goal, your current goals are too high...and it won't happen.

You really think people will keep paying 20$+ dollars each month to play? Even if we reach 250k, we'll need to pay like 12$ each month. People will keep paying for the first couple of months but it won't continue.

These numbers are more reasonable

50,000
150,000
300,000
500,000"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Jagex set the goal too high...

*Not all Members will vote.
*Non-Members can't vote.

If we don't AT LEAST reach 500k, I, with many other players will not even bother playing it."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Embrio2 - "Jagex new it wouldn't get past 250k win win situation for them ill pay $10 no way I'm paying $20 to play 2007scape"
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"It's really good that you're bringing in 2007 servers but come on the number of votes for certain levels are unrealistic... It should be something like;

Level 1- 50k

Level 2- 125k

Level 3- 250k

Level 4- 500k"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"This was set up to fail. Introduce the 2007 servers and charge $5-10 per month to access them.
These goals are unrealistic for a members only poll. Jagex doesn't even have 750k members. There aren't even 100k people online at a time"

"I like how it's members-only, none of us long-since-gone veterans can vote. Are there even 750k members? Whilst I'd love to re-live the golden days, I do not want to pay for membership for the modern version of the game - it's an insult to what it once was. An additional charge is a definite no-no. I'd happily play it were it free/cheaper than the main game."

Exactly my thoughts. The tiers are WAY too high. Do you have any idea how many players will play the first month for free and not play again because of an extra membership fee? You have the main server memberships, the SoF scam of buying spins money, Solomens general store scam for money, and now your trying to get even MORE money by luring players back into a private 2007 runescape server that you pay $15 a month for?

$15 a month for 2007, plus $5 a month for the main game, that's $20 a month JUST to play runescape. Are you guys really that pathetic? Do you realize that's $240 a year? Like I said, you are going to lose so many players with the membership costs. No one will pay $240 a year - $20 every single month - to play a video game. We are in a recession in REAL life, we're not multi millionaires like you.

Starting from scratch in rs2007 will be one of the most invigorating things to ever happen to Runescape. It's only happened once before. And that was the beginning of Ruenscape Classic back in 2001. Even when Classic was reopened, it wasn't a true restart. There were plenty of players will old accounts that still had skills and items in Classic.

But a clean slate is going to be very appealing to a wide range of players. It's a chance to get atop the leaderboard. How daunting must it be for a new player to join the game today and *** a player on the highscores with over 4b experience? What hope can they possibly have of ever achieving stardom? Some players already have a 12-year advantage on them!

With a fresh start, the competition for resources and ranks is going to be crazy, intense, and fun. There will be actual reasons for training skills again. It will be profitable. Resources and items will be scarce, and those with the ability to attain them with have true power and influence. A real economy with be born.

I truly believe that this will provide a huge jolt of life to the game. I know many people think that starting from scratch will be a big deterrent, but I think it will prove otherwise. Let's hope for the best. See you all in 07!

Cheers

Also, while there are some initial start up costs to the retro servers, they will be cheaper to run in the long-term than the modern servers. So I don't understand the huge additional fees to play them. If anything, Jagex should offer a cheaper version of membership that is good for only 2007 and not the main game.
