I like how it's members-only, none of us long-since-gone veterans can vote. Are there even 750k members? Whilst I'd love to re-live the golden days, I do n** want to pay for membership for the modern version of the game - it's an insult to what it once was. Starting from scratch doesn't appeal to me either, I have hundreds of days of play time which I have no desire to have to repeat. I've been quit for a long time now, I've grown up. I really don't want to re-subscribe to the main version of RuneScape just for a nostalgia trip. An additional charge is a definite no-no. I'd happily play it were it free/cheaper than the main game*

**;dr - Good idea, not perfect though.

I will pay extra upfront to get it but not every month. Why? I only want 07 rs. If we get it at any price over the normal membership price that I'm paying now. Then I'm officially done with this game.

Jagex is to greedy with this poll. It will bite them in the ... If we don't get it for normal price. If it was going to be members voting then. 100k at $8 should be enough to start it at normal price. If people could sub for only 07 scape then we could add more servers. We could fund ourselves instead we have to pay for the mistake (eoc), our time put into the game already is useless with eoc, all of the money invested in membership to keep this company going is crap because many of us didn't want this. Then they slap us in the face with these insane prices.

What's the cost for these servers? How much for time invested? Enough to demand $6,000,000 up front I don't think so. (750k * $8.00) They want some people pay more so they are really wanting to break this game before it starts with pure greed. Jagex you could make great money if you would only listen and think about your players and all the things we have had to deal with because you let one mod go crazy with useless stupid updates. Then a company that invested and force people out of the game they loved to play. By releasing more updates to cheat kids out of money and jacking up prices.

All I'm asking since you have disenfranchised us so much at least give us 07 scape at our own payment with this money being funneled to take care of our community. Open it up let f2p play it too so that you will get more on adds and more than likely membership for 07scape. If you have lost your decency to do this and want to charge us more and then do it. It's over for many of us. It will be that final point were you win and your game can go under. So think before the poll is over to decide what's best for you and the people who want the old combat and experience back.
:D

It seems that, if I get this correct, on the first day over 50k votes have been cast for the 2007 servers, about 100k at the end of one day. We cannot let this pass with less than 250k votes, which would be an insult to the community and an utter failure and despair.

I have decided to donate 15 million coins upon the condition that 750,000 votes by members are cast in support of the 2007 servers!! The giveaway will be to players the weekend after 750,000 votes have been reached starting Friday and going through Sunday if all goes as planned with portions distributed at various times throughout the weekend in the Falador party room chest, and I am in Eastern Standard Time, (east coast U.S.), if anyone is wondering.

Now, some may be saying that is stupid and next to nothing, but I will say that as a free-to-play skiller, even after all the time I spent on this game, 15 million is nearly all my coins, (most of my time and coins were invested in stats).

Still, others might ask, why don't you put your money where your mouth is. Truthfully, I have no money, and only huge amounts of debt, but that is besides the point. Some would say that donating coins is nothing like using real money, but I would say, why not? Because virtual coins are not real? But when you stop to think about it, money itself is not real, just an abstract representation which is usually just paper unbacked by anything solid.

To be honest, it really has little direct impact on the game. However, it is to show that we all can come together on issues that mean something--even with the surrounding controversy and parts that everyone can't agree with 100% of the time. More importantly, it will show that everyone can contribute in some meaningful way, regardless of how insignificant or small each individual's contribution or sacrifice may seem, and that everyone can aim for that which is greater than any one of us alone.

This brings me around to a few other points.

Sure, such a giveaway may sound stupid, but it is really comes around to values.

Too often such things things as greed consume us and sacrifice is overlooked. I recently came across many threads where I see it over and over. It all comes full circle--the investment firms, the company, and perhaps other specific individuals that want to milk the game dry; some the members who actually do pay for the game, but are so greedy, they do not want to give anything to a free player, even if its use or the item means little and they have it simply for the sake of possessing it; and the free players who think they are entitled to everything new, and that members shouldn't have anything exclusive even as they pay. In the meantime, the company and investment firms lose revenue; the members get shafted out of good, high-quality content; and the free players are unhappy with what they have. Well, it is time for this to end. No one is entitled, and everyone has to make sacrifices. We have before us a great opportunity, and by all of us sacrificing a little; we all can have that much more.

Sure, maybe 2007 wasn't the absolute best year, but nonetheless it was a good year and a good midway point to represent what is now known as runescape 2, as well as probably the best back-up of runescape 2 that jagex actually has.

Others may say, there is no way I am starting over, but consider this: such a fresh start will give many an opportunity not just to relive and reexperience the game that was out at that time, but will give many the opportunity for a fresh start, and I myself will be curious to see how things might have turned out if I had played differently.

The case has also been said that this will divide the community even more. NO! I say, this will bring the community together, the two will complement each other.

This is awesome!! But just one question...

Will we get to keep our items and stats and bring them to old RuneScape?

If not, please make this an option so we don't have to play 2007 as noobs!!

PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS AND LET US IMPORT OUR ITEMS AND STATS
You peer into a Chapel of Zamorak, which appears to be abandoned. Before you can close the doors again, a Revenant Chaos-Bringer flies at you and slays you instantly with a bolt of Shadow Lightning. Oh dear! You are dead!

It will serve as a legacy and a monument, if not for free players or members now, then for those of the future to see and judge for themselves how good it was for the time.

It will serve as a benchmark with which players and jagex can use to determine the current state of runescape, soon to be, if not already known as, runescape 3. If more people are playing an other version of the game, that should be an indicator that the newer version is not doing so well or headed in the right direction. If more people are playing the newer version, then it suggests that jagex might be on track with the updates to content and gameplay that they continue improving.

I am not asking people to go buy members, as doing so would be hypocritical of me when I am not myself, although, I am sure many will simply because they want the 2007 server(s). I am, however, seeking to persuade those who are currently members to vote in support of this. I am also asking other ftps to encourage members to vote for this and to sacrifice a bit themselves. (If you would like to give and have me note your contribution, let me know the details, ftp or member, and I will add them.)

Many have said runescape is dead now, and all honor, respect, dignity, and the like are lost and gone from this game. To that I say, let us have a greater resurrection than Lazarus!!! Let us prove such values are not lost. Let us show that the spirit of community, valor, and cooperation exist and maybe even some healthy competition to drive us forward.

Even hope and faith seem hard to come by at times, yet hopefully you are persuaded.

The sky is the limit. Let's shoot for the stars!

(I was told that my comments should be placed in a relevent sticky in the General Forum or the Events - "One Off" Forum. If I placed it in the events forum, there is a good chance it may be locked for comments about the 2007 servers. If I place it here, it still might be hidden because some would say it relates to the Events forum. Either way it might be lost, but the 2007 server thread seems the more relevant of the two.)

To answer your question, you won't get to keep and import your items or stats into the 2007 server. I don't think that would be fair to bring in items that one never would have had into that portion of the game. However, you might want to try the suggestions forum, after the actual poll finishes, Fury Storm.
