It seems that, if I get this correct, on the first day over 50k votes have been cast for the 2007 servers, about 100k at the end of one day. We cannot let this pass with less than 250k votes, which would be an insult to the community and an utter failure and despair.
I have decided to donate 15 million coins upon the condition that 750,000 votes by members are cast in support of the 2007 servers!! The giveaway will be to players the weekend after 750,000 votes have been reached starting Friday and going through Sunday if all goes as planned with portions distributed at various times throughout the weekend in the Falador party room chest, and I am in Eastern Standard Time, (east coast U.S.), if anyone is wondering.
Now, some may be saying that is stupid and next to nothing, but I will say that as a free-to-play skiller, even after all the time I spent on this game, 15 million is nearly all my coins, (most of my time and coins were invested in stats).
Still, others might ask, why don't you put your money where your mouth is. Truthfully, I have no money, and only huge amounts of debt, but that is besides the point. Some would say that donating coins is nothing like using real money, but I would say, why not? Because virtual coins are not real? But when you stop to think about it, money itself is not real, just an abstract representation which is usually just paper unbacked by anything solid.
To be honest, it really has little direct impact on the game. However, it is to show that we all can come together on issues that mean something--even with the surrounding controversy and parts that everyone can't agree with 100% of the time. More importantly, it will show that everyone can contribute in some meaningful way, regardless of how insignificant or small each individual's contribution or sacrifice may seem, and that everyone can aim for that which is greater than any one of us alone.
This brings me around to a few other points.
