I hear what you're saying Foraiel, and the questions are good ones (I don't disagree with that).
I think it's like any other company. When business is "booming" they often hire additional staff to cover the areas needed (I think this would be true of any company).
When times get tough.. staff does end up layed off or let go. Such is the nature of the beast of business.
It's not a matter of rushing to a decision now. The decision is made. The real question is how much money can jagex make. Not "if" they will make money.. but how much.
People have to be member in order to even play this old server.. many of those people have outright refused to play the eoc game.
I believe jagex is hoping that people will get "bored" with RS2 and simply migrate to RS3 (personally, I don't see that happening, but they are entitled to their views as well).
Only time will tell.. but the one absolute certainty is that jagex makes money from this.. no matter how you look at it.
