Here's my problem:

I'm considered a "veteran" by most players because I started playing back in 2006, and I became a payed member in early '08. The old RuneScape had some of the best gameplay I have ever seen, and it had some awesome players too. I have so many great memories from my childhood about the game back then: for example, tutorial island, my first completed quest, my first mil, just to name a few. But because of the EoC, I stopped playing as often as I used to, and I let my membership drop, as have many players. Thus, the membership community has been significantly reduced. My suggestion would be for all accounts created before 2009 receive the ability to cast a vote, because that is the core of Runescape players.
There are so many Vets out there who have stopped playing due to all the updates, and that doesn't include just the EoC. Ever since RuneScape started adding, what I call World of Warcraft, updates in 2010 (approx.), the game hasn't been as great as it was. I feel, like many other RuneScapers, it has been a copy of other MMORPG's. What makes RuneScape so special is its individualism. It's a personal game, while you can control your character and are able to look him/her in the eye, and also, due to its large viewing area, increases co-player interaction, increasing and encouraging companionship. In games like LOTRO and WoW, these games are highly single-player based and don't offer as much peer interaction, giving Runescape an edge. Old RuneScapers were some of the best, and they were honest players, something lost in current RuneScape. Bringing back RS '07 would bring back the uniqueness of the game, and several of the greatest Scapers the game has known. This is my opinion, and encourage everyone to vote for 2007 RS to be reinstated.

To all of the people complaining about this causing a "split" in the community...

To be honest, this community needs something like this. The runescape community is getting worse and worse every time a new update comes out, it seems. There would not be a split in the community, just a filtration of old-community and new-community. They would still intersect together, as most of the forums will be used by both communities.

Stop whining about causing rifts in a community that is already garbage.

Before you go and flame the crap out of me, reflect a little.

When was the last time you legitimately cared about the community? You probably only associate yourself with the nine or ten people on your friends list that you still talk to. Don't speak for keeping the community together unless you can truly say that you work to improve the community.

(And throwing around insults does NOT count as improving the community.)

Rare item solution:


Make an npc that sells these rares. Put them at the exact same price that they were in 2007. Also make sure you have a limited quantity, but keep the quantity hidden) By the time players have enough gp to purchase them, the in-game economy should already be splendid.

This is a great plan for a new update. Everyone will be satisfied, especially anti-EOC players. Also, I think that more players would return since they now have more freedom in choosing which game to play. GREAT JOB JAGEX! :D Devalued Dormant title @ 236 KC omegalul

@EVERYONE NOT WANTING TO PAY 1 MONTHS MEMBERSHIP TO VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure all if not most of you have been begging for this chance since eoc came into the game. I really hope you guys don't let 7 dollars stand in your way now and besides.. Mod mmg said those who vote will get the first membership on the 2007 servers for free so think of it as buying membership early. Everybody needs to come together and vote. Don't think your 1 vote won't make a diffierence. Every vote is 1 step closer and 500k+ is what we really need to aim for at the least because it's a free service at that point (with main runescape membership) EVERYONE REPASTE THIS EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was happy when I read the first half of this I thought “runescape really cares” but then the tier thing hit. It might look like it was a warm hearted attempt to listen to players but it wasn’t it was so the tier would reach the tier so they’d you’d get more money. As for the non members what about the people who quit?what about the old vets who didn’t like the changes and canceled their subscription what if they want old runescape back? This is another money scheme to get old players to at least give an extra 5 bucks for 1 vote. (you could make the votes count for those who have had membership in the x amount of years ago)

Jagex we understand you're a business but stop thinking like some money hungry one. this isn’t a bash to what you do but i remember when this game was built for the love on the game not to take all of it loyal players money. i do support micro transactions but don’t make that the only armor you make right now this is still a game no a costume show many games have mixed a nice variety of new content and cosmetic items. jagex I’m a loyal player and i only want to see this game to it's fullest potential. so when i have kids i can tell them this was the greatest game i played even to the day i retired my runescape career or maybe it will be so good id never quit.

I'm really excited to hear about this option. I retired my membership and rarely logged in as a free-to-play character to chat with my friends, rather than to play.
But I think I might get my membership back and vote on this topic. I joined in January of 2008 and that's when I felt the most thrill in playing the game. Without the dozens of tutorials, the easy xp (which is nice, but it takes the rewarding feeling out getting a level), the easy money, and most of all; the micropayments.

So anyway, jusy keep it the way it is (or was) and don't swarm it in updates. Also, I agree with Game Tix on the whole economy thing. We will need time to rebuild the economy based on the amount of players that agree and want to play the 2007 version. If the backup contained Grand Exchange values from then...? That could really help stimulate the RS economy and slightly substitute for the missing years of price changes.

Can't wait to see how the voting goes.
