@1hp owns you: That's not true at all, it completely depends on how you deliver the rares. Of course just randomly dropping a few hundred/thousand rare items into the game is going to break the economy. That's because just dropped them in is a terrible way of handling it. Ideally the rares should be put in as they were originally. For example, the first Christmas after 2007 is reinstated should be the exact same event that occurred in 2001 where Party Hats and Christmas crackers came into the game, then pretty much everyone would gain the item and they would only become 'rare' as time passes, so because they came in through an event allowing everyone to get them, they would not be rare but rather common and would become rare just like they did in the original game.
