Several people have asked about rare/discontinued items on a 2007 server. We've not got any set plans for this yet, so why not let us know how you think we should introduce rare items, if at all?

I think Jagex should introduce rares in the new 2007 server, and introduce them on their respective holidays. This will allow for the veteran community to enjoy nostalgic holiday events, as well as give newer Runescape players the opportunity to actually experience these events. Most importantly, introducing rares would help promote an active community. The retention rates of players on this new 2007 server would potentially be greater than the updated version in the game in the sense that players who have wanted free trade, the original wilderness pking, no Grand Exchange, etc will be given the opportunity to play the version of Runescape with all the aspects they have enjoyed.
Discontinued items/rares also have an essential function in the Runescape economy as well. Players have sentimental attachment to rares. If nothing else, introducing rares would also make the game fun and more 'complete' as it actually was in 2007.
Also, I'd like to elaborate on what I mean by discontinued items as well. I think that untradable holiday items such as the Scythe, Rubber Chicken, Bunny Ears should also be released again on the 2007 server as well, as long as all other holiday items leading up to 2007. These holiday items are very much enjoyed by players alongside partyhats, santa hats, h'ween masks, etc despite not being tradable in the current version of the game.
