Discontinued items should definitely be introduced into the game one way or another. It just simply wouldn't be 2007 Runescape without them. They are required because they put a 'goal mentality' in every persons' head who desires great wealth in the game. Without them, there wouldn't be a way to show extreme richness in the game. They are just simply necessary to bring back the nostalgia of 2007.

I for one am very excited about these old servers, especially since everyone is starting from scratch. As much as I'd like to drop everything going on with my life and just go at it 20hrs a day and compete for the high scores, it's not going to happen. Best of luck to everyone going for 85 mining and 99 smithing, that'll take some big ones to achieve such a goal. What I don't think people realize is that maxing now a days is absolutely nothing in comparison to maxing back in 2007 (earlier as well).

I think it'll be interesting to see what people go for in the beginning (such as combat, skilling, etc.) but I'll definitely give it a shot once again just like I did those many years ago. I've been playing since 2005 (off and on obviously) and I have mixed feelings about the 2007 time period in general. Depending on the amount of votes we manage to pull out, we could expect to see some things introduced to the game such as godwars (without Nex of course). Don't forget, without godwars there aren't even dragon boots.

It's also important to know that we need certain things introduced into these new 2007 servers (obviously depending on how many votes we can muster up). We don't want to take away it's time period so we'll need to stick with the same graphics, mechanics, armor, animations, sound, etc. However, we've been living in luxury in 2012+ especially.

So what I think should be added into the 2007 servers if possible (5 of each I can think of atm) without taking away that much uniqueness to its time period:

1) Toolbelt (this could be considered too modern though, which is understandable)
2) Ability to use the scroll wheel in the middle of your mouse to rotate the screen.
3) Godwars (No Nex)
4) Friends Chat with LS/CS
5) Runescape Lobby + 5 minute auto-log

Important things to know:

1) No GE
2) No string all option when fletching bows
3) Everyone is level 3
4) It'll be crowded in early combat areas (lumbridge!)
5) It's going to be a fun experience!

I would buy membership if I could transfer my acc/bank to rs 2007 but I dont have the time to waste to get the levels and do the quests all over again. If I cannot transfer I will not buy membership.
How about two different servers are created, one which does not allow transfer of items/levels, and one that does....
copy/paste if you agree

"@Used to care,

What do you mean starting from level 3 will be a hassle? That's what the old days was all about."

---------------------------------------

Because alot of people just aren't going to go for that, alot of people just don't have the time to start at level 3 again. Well I know personally id play it anyway level 3 or not. I just think it could work out better and get more people back if they had data on their stats from 2007.

If they have account stat data from 2007 still saved, then I think its even better.

One more thought I had last night when I was talking about this with other players and friends..

This might not be a problem, but I can see it becoming one. Items and GP at the beginning of all this will be scarce and the economy will be fresh and I can just picture in my head already "Selling 2007 whip (X-amount)" on the current version of Runescape and have people getting scammed left and right in forms of "Trust Trade."

I dont know if anyone else has thought about this and I might be over thinking this but back in the day people fell for this stuff ALL the time.. its only a matter of time before we see "Trimming Armor" again.

Anyone have any thoughts?

high-scores say there are 1800k members.
if you look the names and levels of them, i bet 1m are BOTS.

We need really some miracle to get legitimate players to vote enough...

JaGeX do you really think million bots will vote? And if they are, they want to
ruin 2k7 scape for us by joining in.
