I for one am very excited about these old servers, especially since everyone is starting from scratch. As much as I'd like to drop everything going on with my life and just go at it 20hrs a day and compete for the high scores, it's not going to happen. Best of luck to everyone going for 85 mining and 99 smithing, that'll take some big ones to achieve such a goal. What I don't think people realize is that maxing now a days is absolutely nothing in comparison to maxing back in 2007 (earlier as well).
I think it'll be interesting to see what people go for in the beginning (such as combat, skilling, etc.) but I'll definitely give it a shot once again just like I did those many years ago. I've been playing since 2005 (off and on obviously) and I have mixed feelings about the 2007 time period in general. Depending on the amount of votes we manage to pull out, we could expect to see some things introduced to the game such as godwars (without Nex of course). Don't forget, without godwars there aren't even dragon boots.
It's also important to know that we need certain things introduced into these new 2007 servers (obviously depending on how many votes we can muster up). We don't want to take away it's time period so we'll need to stick with the same graphics, mechanics, armor, animations, sound, etc. However, we've been living in luxury in 2012+ especially.
So what I think should be added into the 2007 servers if possible (5 of each I can think of atm) without taking away that much uniqueness to its time period:
1) Toolbelt (this could be considered too modern though, which is understandable)
2) Ability to use the scroll wheel in the middle of your mouse to rotate the screen.
3) Godwars (No Nex)
4) Friends Chat with LS/CS
5) Runescape Lobby + 5 minute auto-log
Important things to know:
1) No GE
2) No string all option when fletching bows
3) Everyone is level 3
4) It'll be crowded in early combat areas (lumbridge!)
5) It's going to be a fun experience!
