I've just looked at the high score table and half of the members accounts are level 34. Who leaves their account at that level? Only a botter!
The vast majority of these level 34 accounts are newly created bot accounts waiting to be activated. They are, of course, abusing the membership trial. That's why Jagex have just announced that they will be ending this offer. It is an attempt to rid the members worlds of at least some of the bots by shifting them on to free to play instead. It will be interesting, when this offer ends, to see the number of accounts left on the high score table (which is a members feature).
The botters have got a new account name generator too, in attempt to be more subtle. We won't be seeing so many of the usual random names that they have had. Now they build names out of a dictionary of parts of words that are put together to make a full name. It's quite clever I suppose.
I may just be guessing but perhaps this latest update to botwatch merely identified the common features of some of the names that the bots they just banned, i.e. the way they looked like serial numbers, e.g. a letter, an underscore, then a series of numbers. The reason that this is what I think is because accounts with those types of names are now missing. If what I think is true then the botters have already overcome this latest botwatch update. The knowledge that they have overcome it in such a short period of time is another reason to end the membership trial offer.
Jagex claim to have removed 20k accounts in one night. Well, I'd say that the high score table is down in size by 100k since this latest battle against the bots started, but that is just a drop in the ocean compared to the total number of them. The war against the bots may continue, but Jagex are still getting owned.
You can verify all that I have said for yourselves by looking at the accounts at the bottom of the high score table.
Sorry Jagex, I know these are harsh words, but I speak the truth.
