Despite being a comped player on this account which is roundabout 4 years old, I don't remember the inexistence of trial membership. While it's a good way to entice players to buy membership after training some 'member skills' - though it would have a much larger effect if the players were free players intially so they can really experience 'member skills' during their trial (can you even tell what skills are for members only if you are new? - there have been the level 4s that dance around wearing purple wizard robes and whatnot. It's quite painful to see that these players are, or were, able to do this on members worlds, never mind be able to do it at all. So in response to the above post, I think we're between a rock and a hard place with trial membership.
One thing I've never understood is someone being able to use a macroing program and bypassing the 'delay/limit' that you have when trying to type. I've seen someone fill up the chat box faster than it should be possible. I'm guessng they have a way to bypass this and I think that needs to be fixed. The issue is whether botwatch catches this kind of rubbish on throwaway accounts and whether or not it can prevent these 'players' from bypassing the time delay for chatting.
