Jagex, you need a physical layer for protecting against bots. Doing this in software only will just result in an increase in bot sophistication and increased cost to you and us players.
There needs to be a physical encrypted key that must be plugged into the computer. This key would control access to the game beyond a certain grace period for new accounts. when a bot is detected, the key can be disabled and access to the game severed until the offender buys an other key or a license to make another key.
An idea like this would not have to really have any upfront hardware cost to the company, you can sell the software for a small price for one time use so that a user could create their own physical key from a USB stick they have.
Without physical access control, your battle against bots will be a needlessly increasing expense because this problem can not be fixed with software alone.
