Of course I will respond and no you weren't rude at all!
A lot of these answers can be found on the EoC livestream which highlights the reasons we need to make this change.
I find the concept difficult to grasp that we are somehow doing this to make money. We know that change is difficult for people to adjust to and so we don't expect this to significantly increase our player base immediately. Instead this is about us delivering a better game for the future of the product. Having these mechanics in the game will allow us to have a much for fulfilling PVP environment, much better bosses (which atm are created in a way that "cheats" the current combat system in order to be dangerous) and much better future content (see the 2013 content newspost).
Generally we can make the game change that we need to in order to be able to set RuneScape up for another 10 years of amazing game and community.
As for the posts on the poll, we posted them to be transparent. The point here is that we felt that there was a small portion of players who were against the update.
I am also very confused how this could be compared to all other MMO's, I have played many and I can honestly say this is definitely not the same.
Overall I'm not sure if you gave the academy a try yourself but if you haven't please do. I know I found it very useful in being able to adjust to the change and trust me, it will be worth adjusting for.
