Hi all,

It seems there has been a little confusion about how the new system works.

You will only receive the 30 days of free membership when your recruited friend purchases membership.

The XP bonus is only given to you when you train the same skill as your friend did. If your friend gains Woodcutting XP you will only receive a bonus if you also train Woodcutting. You receive it as you train the skill (not in a lump) so effort is required from both players in order for the recruiter to gain the extra XP.

The XP bonus is only a small percentage of what your friend gained. If your friend gains 1000xp you won't receive 1000xp.

An additional XP bonus will be applied if both you and your recruited friend are online at the same time, are within sight of each other on the same world and are training the same skill. Again, this is still only a small percentage of what your friend gained.

Both you and your recruited friend need to be members in order to receive any of the XP bonuses.

There are a few reasons we think the new system is a big improvement:

- You can receive free membership!

- The old system gave a flat 10% XP boost across all skills trained by the recruiter, even if their friend did not play. This meant that some players could create multiple accounts for themselves just to receive the XP bonuses for their main account.

- The new system only gives a small percentage XP reward to the recruiter and it is based on how much XP their recruited friend gains. This means there's no longer any real benefit to someone creating lots of accounts just for the XP boost - they'll gain more XP by training skills on their main account.

- The new XP teamwork bonus is a reward for playing alongside your recruited friend and helping them learn about RuneScape.

hmm... Nice observation, it seems you have noticed the insignificant few players asking about this system maybe, the other 99% if not more should be taken into account? oh.. what am i saying? the majority have no idea what they are talking about so maybe we will absolutely disregard those many "players" who are absolutely grinding out their skills for hours on end with no slip ups and the same repetitive clicking.

Great job, this system must be repelling a lot of bots! If this was made when this was such an enjoyable game then this would be a blessing but seeing as most of the accounts on rs are bots they are benefited much more than the actualy legitimate players. This In actual fact is just enticing bots to join the game defeating the purpose of making the bots face "The normal consequences of having that account banned!" If this was the same game I've been playing on and off for many years then i would have no hesitation to call to people to rs but as it stands i think I'll be keeping it little more than a secret.

I recruited my gf and she is now a regular player and we play and work on skills together. We don't get any kind of bonus. Guess I should have thought ahead and used the "recruit-a-friend" system instead of just showing her how to make an account.

NOT!!!

Would be better to have people be able to link their accounts together as buddies and get some kind of bonus that way. We aren't gona be cold-callers for jagex. We are gonna have new ppl we know get into the game and it would be nice if we could network with them in a mutually beneficial way. Thanks for listening to this. It's similar to the things I said about item lending when there was a trade limit imposed, so I know it's on your minds as well.
