Why are you all complaining about whether you get access to the beta test or not. You'll all get to play the new system, all that you're going to miss is the chance to beta it and suffer from any bugs in it.
I think this is the first time I've seen Jagex do a public beta of a new game feature, which suggests it's a pretty significant change and they want to make sure it works right. It will be interesting to be in for the beta, but seriously, I don't think anyone who doesn't get in will be missing anything.
I think buying SOF spins sucks, in fact buying SOF spins is RWT, because you're buying in game benefits for real world money, and that's no different to buying gp from gold farmers. For every reason that RWT is *bad* for the game, buying SOF spins is also bad for the game. I think not getting a rune katana because I was a long term debit card member sucks. I think not getting SOF spins because I'm a long term credit member sucks.
But missing out on a new feature test because you're not a member, or haven't been a member long enough to qualify .... that wouldn't bother me at all. I don't even know if I'll play the beta out of anything more than curiosity to see what's changed ... curiosity that will be just as easily answered by looking at youtube vids and forum posts after the beta starts.
Jagex do some very annoying and disincentivising things, but in my opinion, limiting access to the beta according to some criteria isn't one of them.
