Myrmecomorphy, or ant mimicry, is most common in spiders. There are over 100 known species of spiders that disguise themselves as ants in appearance, in surface microstructure, and even in excreted pheromones, either to evade predators or to prey upon unsuspecting real ants. The phenomenon of ant mimicry is so common that there are different terms for the different forms.
