There is content for new people and lower levels, but that gets negated with the convenience grinds (and what holidays have mostly become) so people can stand around and click for xp (in the "boring" skills, that "most" important? people find their time too valuable for). The linear people ticking boxes get their xp at those just like any noob. Standing around clicking and chatting isn't bad, but I never found it as fun as running around DOING things.
What I enjoyed as a noob planning for my future was the xp AND the resources gained by grinding gathering and artisan skills, so that, unless I wanted to sell a block of resources to make some cash, I HAD the resources in the bank when I gained levels to keep advancing at a higher level.
I didn't have to go collect things when I started a quest, I withdrew them.
I could do a farming run and pay the farmer, because I had the baskets and the sacks and the stuff, and my xp took off doing runs, because I had saved the resources to do them efficiently. I didn't have to wait for an event and pick coconuts for hours to get xp, I had a ton of valuable stuff i could use or sell.
Strange and golden rocks are a huge boon for training, IMO. Makes you train a variety, and helps you progress relatively evenly (IF that is your goal) AND have fun doing it.
So much is devalued with the focus on "end stage", from combat to box-ticking on skills.
They HAVE a "forever game", but it seems they (or their investor/owner) prefer a linear one of check-boxes.
