I actually understand where you are coming from OP. I haven't done ports in ages but when they came out I remember having over 90% success chance on all my missions and most of them failed. At first I believed it was just bad luck that I was RNG rolling into the 1-10% failure chance...but it became way too consistent for that to make sense.
Then in college some friends talked me into this app. I forget the name but it was a wheel you could roll a few times a day and maybe win money. The wheel was near-entirely the "winner!" color with a small sliver that was the failure color. However - the chances of the wheel NOT landing in failure was something like 1%. I kind of wonder if, by intentional design or not, if there is something in the ports code that functions similarly to that dumb app.
