They have definitely been improving the quests. A lot of the old ones, the first step is to gather 20 items that are required. The quests were designed so you would need to go fetch those items during the quest, wasting a lot of time. They even started making fun of players who brought items in the quest dialogue. (assuming the player even read it)

My feedback was always this: once you send me to the guide it is over. If I need to use the guide at step 1 forget about it. I'm going to peek, because the tone has already been set. They are intending to waste a lot of my time in an annoying way. For a lot of quests, the only joy is from escaping, and never having to deal with it again.

That's the #1 reason I abandoned OSRS. There is no way I am doing those quests again.

Well, yes, it does take longer to solve it by yourself. As I said, it all comes down to how much time you're willing to spend on a single quest. Doing quests has always been my favourite activity in RuneScape, if you don't like it then by all means use a guide, my point was that you don't actually need it. I don't remember much of Elemental Workshop because I was 13 when I did those quests, but the only one I remember using a guide for is Elemental Workshop III because I didn't understand the slide puzzle. Not sure if I could solve it myself nowadays, perhaps I'll give it a try sometime. The Vault of Shadows is a pretty straightforward puzzle, you just need to figure out how each dial works and you eventually can figure out the solution. It is an Archaeology puzzle which was used for a quest.

That being said, what is "fun" is quite subjective. It's ok if you don't like the quests, but you do have two options. You can solve it yourself, which obviously will take much longer than simply using a guide, so you should only do it if it's something you enjoy - I sure do. Or you can use a guide to do it. But then you're angry because you don't want to do any of those, which confuses me. I don't mean it in a condescending way, but maybe you just shouldn't do quests if you don't enjoy doing them at all. Or do as Roddy said and simply try to do them as fast as you can and don't look back.

I am not to proud of a person that I can't admit my faults so while I hate to say it the fact is my brain is total crap when it comes to figuring out puzzles of any kind. That includes riddles too. I have trashed a few clue scrolls because they gave me a puzzle box to figure out and that's just impossible for me. I stopped even trying to do hard clues and higher. It sucks but it's the truth. I'm mega stupid with puzzles.
I have no choice but to constantly switch back and forth between game and wiki. My argument is that it should be necessary. Guess I'm just to damn stupid for Jagex?
As for "the Vault of Shadows" being "pretty straight forward"? Lol. It must be nice to have some idea about these things because they were completely confusing to me.
As for choosing not to do quests? Yeah that's not exactly an option if I want the rewards and unlocks. I definitely try to do them and get them done ASAP. But another reason I do quests is because they are suposed to be fun. I admit that there are a few that were fun and some that were ok. But the majority of them are just brutally infuriating. I stand by my thoughts about saying that Jagex enjoys pissing off the player. I have no idea why they do but it's pretty damn obvious. I'm not the only one feeling this way. I've seen other people say it in game and online. It's NOT just me.

My complaint about having to use the wiki is that it's annoying. Yes it's nice that they have it. I'd never get a lot of quests done without it. But it's just the fact that it's nescesary. And honestly, because I have to read the wiki, a lot of stuff that pops up on the game screen I just hit the space bar and skip through because I already read it on the wiki. But I've not found anything in a lot of quests that tell you how to figure out their puzzles. If I have to spend hours of "trial & error" to do one single quest how the hell is that fun? It's garbage. I will admit that I am the worst person at figuring out puzzles, but the ones in these quests are so rediculous. Even following the wiki I still end up having to "re-do" the puzzles sometimes because I apparently messed it up somehow. Yes I use the little check boxes. Quests are supposed to be fun. Jumping back and forth and reading the wiki and trying to do the puzzles is anything but fun.

With the ele workshop one iirc (i did them many years ago) the information on what to do was told to you in the quest. Not directly like a guide but was there

You say here you hit space bar and dont read the chat. That is the problem thats why you dont know next step and need a guide. If you read the chat it literally tells you there. Puzzles obviously different as its working it out. But thats just a case of understanding the puzzle and the rules of every puzzle in game is in game during the quests

Yes the puzzles are the main problem. That's what I'm saying. I hve tried reading the in game chat to see how they try to explain things and I've gotten to the point that I've given up because the in game instructions about puzzles never makes enough sense to me. It's like I'm mentally handicapped when it comes to puzzles. NO, I'm not making fun of anyone that's mentally handicapped! I'm saying that that is how puzzles make me feel. In every game. But I've never seen such crazy and long multiple puzzles in just one quest in any other game. Jagex goes overboard. It's insaine.

In most other MMOs quests are like "kill 50 rats", "kill 100 zombies", "kill 150 skeletons". Would you rather have that? At least in RuneScape they are a bit challenging.

If you are really having as much trouble with them as you say, I think you are playing the wrong type of game.

Rs quests are very choreish. It wouldnt be so bad if there was like say, 2 req short quests before say a master quest or something to unlock lunars. But no theres TONS, and there always like.

Boring unfun and you get to do that like 9 more times before you can do the quest you actually want to do to unlock something thats usefull. 98% of the quests in RS are "filler" quests.
