I know you were trying to give players a heads up on some of the items that are going to be needed but the same thing happened now instead of months down the road. The merchants are buying everything up that was on the list. Now skills that require those items such as Prayer and Runecrafting cant be purchased on the GE.
Perhaps you should have extended the time to purchase items and lowered the buy quantity? Maybe players would stand a chance of getting something even if it was a reduced quantity. Now I'm thinking I have to abandon training these skills for the next 2-5 months until the new skill comes out and items are buyable again.
I know cry me a river boo hoo

Unfortunately they had to release the item list now as some players got a sneak peak at the skill thus found out which items would be needed.

These players were then embargoed from buying those items - meaning they couldn't buy them until either the skill was released, or the remainder of the players found out what those items were.

This is a short term peak in trading of these items. The merchants who are hoarding the items now will run out of funds in a few days, and by then it'll be too late to hoard those items. One could even argue that now is too late to start hoarding, and actually now is the time to sell.

Also, once these hoarders start to watch the videos created by those who have tried out the content already, they may start to understand that these items are not going to be required in bulk, and actually holding onto them until release day may not be the best idea.

Long story short, don't worry about it. It'll calm down sooner rather than later.

If they were concerned about the testers possibly leaking the items or taking advantage, they could have used fake items and made a point of that. The list isn't that big.

But the bones are obvious, and players will not only merch that list, but farm it. For their own use and to sell.

That doesn't help now, or in the near future, but on release I don't think it will be a major problem.

if it was now, or when necro was released these items were going to sky rocket. least now we have some information and can prepare. either by buying them or just gathering them ourselves before launch.

it really is no big deal.

take advantage of the information, and as stated by a cole, they pretty much had to. as if we found out some content creators had insider info all this time. that would be more of a reason to rant

I personally like that the information was released early, because it allows me to collect them myself in advance, rather than scrambling to buy from those that just happen to already have them stockpiled at the time that I want/need to use them.

As far as quantities go - it was stated in one of the videos that bones at least will be very slow to go through, so you don't need ridiculous quantities and can collect enough for your own needs yourself with ease.

I am not concerned about the cost of bones. There are plenty of places where they can be farmed quite easily.

Pure essence is another matter for F2P. Since we cannot mine it, our only option is to buy it. The Grand Exchange price for pure essence has skyrocketed since the list of Necromancy items was released.

Merching assholes. When the prices stabilize, hopefully they will lose a ton of gold.

One would hope that f2p can use regular essence for at least a little bit of training in the beginning, to wet their feet a bit.... Things may be looking down now, but I see a light at the end of the tunnel;

I have 375k+ pure ess atm, used to own near 1mill of it, i paid 24each for it years ago. I won't be selling my stock, pure essence has always made me millions.

Pure ess price is currently 149each approx

hopefully the demand on pure ess already for runecrafting can handle the demand for Necromancy.

Mainly it's all bots that supply pure ess these days(mining wise) and slayer/boss drops which are deemed troll drops.

even if pure ess hits 1kea+, not many will farm it. i think at max using yannile mage guild is 1400ish pure ess per hour, not very much money these days. could be more using all pure ess holding items, but who is honestly going to do that....last time i mined pure ess was 2007 to fund obby cape/rune armour.

My wages i'd pay 6kea than mine it myself tbh.

----

Same with farming bones, i'd rather do other stuff then buy them with my profits. time wise it's usually way cheaper.

---

Edit; and money is so easy now a days, it's not just merchers buying it, it's players who want it cheaper. Same reason i buy crashed items, i don't plan to re-sell, i know i can use them overtime so i buy them cheap to save myself buying them 1k+ each at a later date.

For example lockpicks, atm i'm buying thousands of them, since they crashed to 10each vs the normal 1k+ ea, just like my onyx's for 750k each, up to 143 now a days. little profits but overall saves me millions.

I suppose it's possible, but I doubt it. Otherwise, the item list would have included rune essence along with pure essence.

Since only pure essence made the list, I expect Jagex either assumes F2P will continue to depend on members to sell them pure essence (probably at inflated prices, at least early on) or Jagex will simply lock free players out of crafting these new runes - although maybe we will be able to purchase them. Thus, we wouldn't need to buy pure essence, causing the price to drop.
