This looming E-mail login process should be optional, not mandatory.

it wont be tedious, you wont need to type it in every time.

just because you have never been hacked now, doesnt mean you dont need better security. its still worth it overall.

unfortunately by the sounds of it the only way to do it, is to do it this way which means log in usernames will be no more.

Correct - the Jagex Account system is a completely different system than the existing RuneScape account system, so you can use the same email (and then migrate your characters over).

Oh jeez I logged into rants about something else and saw THIS!! What the F*CK!! My level of petty annoyance is reaching the tipping point. Is this something we only have to enter once or each time we log on?? Gah I'm already annoyed.

I get the impression migration from the current launcher to the beta is a one-way trip, yeah?

As an example, say I moved my account over and played RS via the beta launcher. Then after a week, I decide I don't like how the beta performs. It sounds to me like I would not be able to transfer back from the beta to the current launcher, because my credentials there will have been removed. That is my understanding.

In a way, that makes sense. It would otherwise have a greater risk of our character progress not properly transferring over. At the same time, I am not inclined to switch over to the beta before absolutely necessary, once any bugs are found and fixed, so it's no longer a beta - for the exact same reason. I've been putting out fire with gasoline! ^_^
