I loved Dungeoneering and the figuring out of how the special abilities of each boss worked. As well as how the sound team went and made a track for each individual boss. Was always a blast when I unlocked a new boss and had to figure out how to deal with it, while listening to its theme.
Was also always a blast whenever I unlocked the next floor theme. Since a change of scenery is always lovely.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

"Loved". All the past tense in this thread is telling. It isn't 2010 anymore. It's 2023 and dungeoneering sucks RIGHT NOW. That's why it's DEAD.

Repetition?? It has the least amount of any skill. Now you were mainly a quester, who leveled skills to complete quests. As for actually grinding most of the skills, they all were repetitious. I loved Dungeoneering, when it came out. I enjoyed teaming as well. I think the main complaint was the teaming gave the best experience. A lot did not like teaming. Same problem with doing raids. You need to team. I found it was well done as well. Now, when it first started it was much harder. They kept nerfing it because people kept complaining the dungeons were too hard. EOC made it even easier. Because they added the amount of binds. Nope it was not repetitious at all. Now you cannot beat quests for variety. But as a whole, grinding any skill will get tedious. While quests are just fun.
You basically play the same format, over and over again, with some random rooms swapped around. Fight the same monsters, fight the same bosses, just scaled to your group level. Open a door, check if it's got the eyeball, kill everything if so otherwise rush to next room. Puzzle room everyone run here and do the puzzle again. The complaints are mostly that it is repetitious in a way that requires intense focus. It's not like Divination where you can be a little semi afk and train it, you have to be actively focused and constantly running the playbook for the type of room. For some that's fun, for others it gets tiring to spend an hour on a floor and you get a measly amount of EXP. Or your group 'failed' and you got crap reward because quitter, or tons of other bugs/gameplay design flaws with the group system I personally experienced. Once I spent 30+ mins on a floor, kicked a leech, but he stayed. Then he opened the last door and instead of a boss we got a room belonging to a different floor type. Which is a pandora box of bugs, but unfortunately ended up being a dead end. Entire floor wasted! I get triggered thinking of it.

I also struggle even doing dungeoneering now. Very hard for me to find a team even on the dedicated world. It is like this skill is dead. I actually am interested in playing the floors I missed out on but can never find a big team. I will solo sometimes but I get bored and the reward makes it not very worth it. I wonder who out there is playing dungeoneering in 2023, seems like most people just lamp or sinkhole it. There are waiting rooms at daemonheim to automatically form a team, I have never seen anyone use this in years. Perfect thing to make an instance shard world about but Jagex just has no interest I guess. Buy Zemomarks / Chromatic Partyhats safely here

I was lucky. I was able to form teams in my clan. Problem was people never really learned how to do the floors properly. The fun was seeing how fast you could do a floor. Think teams got down to about 5 to 10 minutes a floor 5 5 large. You needed a regular team for it to work. I thought the floors had a lot of variety. Yes after doing 60 floors resetting and doing again, it got repetitious. But I find afking skills much more boring. Yes after about 2012, Dungeoneering got stupid when free trade came back. Because people just leached. As for experience, if you learned how to do dungeons, you could get about 1mil exp an hour back in 2011. Think I got 200mil experience between 2011 and 2012. Easiest skill to max out.

Yes, it's extremely strange no one wants to do release dungeoneering when there's other options. It's like people don't like it.

more its better xp, than actually training it / entirely afk even if shit xp.
its the same for everything ingame when something is better xp ph it changes what people do in game. even if the previous method is more enjoyable.

Like picking elf pockets vs doing Pyramid Plunder. I always found PP more fun. But the experience in Elf City was crazy.
