All of my motivation just spiraled down the drain. You have this iconic warrior, turned into a puny ant-man with poor posture and low self esteem.

Are you okay under there old man? Seems like it's been a rough month!

Did I even remember to feed these guys? My bad! It's probably because someone snuck in there and stole the XP boost from my kitchen.

Anyways, Raptor has lost all credibility and he is fired. NEXT!

Haha! Obviously I reached a point in the quest where all logic and meaning has expired. Is there some rule in writing that demands one destroy ANY popular character completely?

Wouldn't it be better for everyone to write you own likeable character that someone else can destroy?

Seriously, y'all have wiped the map. I'm not even going to mention that I enjoy Papa Mambo. He is in immediate jeopardy. His fate is beyond imagination.

Beyond all that, this was actually a good quest. I am ready for the sequel, I was just about to grab some anti fire potions when it ended.

It's a little amusing to me, because I was writing my own dialogue as the quest went along. Even beyond firing Raptor, a lot of time the writers were thinking the same thing I was.

I'm pretty sure there was a Harrison Ford cameo in there somewhere. Maybe he was Z man.

One other thing happened in this quest. Slider puzzles have now overtaken combat as the main feature in the game.

I knew it would happen eventually, I tried to warn them.

Probably the best thing now is to just advertise it as a slider puzzle game, with extra features. (like an entire MMO game attached to it)

Because obviously slider puzzles are under-rated. We just see them as an annoyance, but they are one of the foundations of the game. Being highly skilled at slider puzzles is a requirement.

IDK how this ever happened, but we should all just accept it. A good way would be to make a slider puzzle Youtube promo, and post it on Twitch.

Another oddity from the quest. When you reveal a character under a mask, we are supposed to know who they are.

Like, we should recognize them. If you don't, it could have been anyone. Their identity doesn't matter if you don't know who it is visually. That's half of the Scooby Doo formula.

When the mask came off, my chat options were "Your royal holiness?" OR "Elvira???"

Neither of those clicked, and I am definitely not calling some random person 'your majesty' Even if they are a pretty nice girl who doesn't have a lot to say.

In this case, there is nothing to identify any NPC. The hair? The eyes? The face?

Come on man! You make a quest 90% great and then expect us to ignore some crazy stuff that didn't need to be included.

I was just thinking about the 'Lost Vikings' portion of the quest where we control Raptor to stand on switches and move boulders. It's a cool feature, and part of that game was the characters had different abilities to deal with the obstacles, so you had to choose.

Raptor actually did have a different ability. Could push a boulder halfway across the map, while I can hardly even move it one square. It made sense at the time.

But after the reveal, it seems like my character has been completely buried. After all this, I can't even keep up with a known character, the queen of Varrock.

Nevermind the Raptor. That giant warrior never actually existed.

The easiest way out of this is to start the next quest with us waking up from the dream state. That way, instead of losing 2 characters, the population of the game map can remain stable. (maybe even add some, that could be a thing)

In this thread I referred to Raptor as HE. Prior to that I often used THEY, because I had left the door open to it possibly being a woman.

Recently, Jagex went out of their way to convince us it was a HE, so that is one reason I had such a strong reaction. Before starting the quest. The tiny chat head is the first thing I saw. Then I had to turn the camera and zoom in for a better look.

Mysterious Individual was the correct answer and it always was. It's a question that never needed to be asked. Definitely not answered.

But then they pull a 180 and reveal it to not only be a woman, but a known character that already served their purpose. We don't need character development.

You place known characters into situations and depict their reactions to the situation. C-3PO from Star Wars is the perfect example. The character only needs to be present, and then deliver a line at the appropriate time.

In the sequels they couldn't figure out anything to do with 3PO and even used him as a joke. Not in a good way, in a way that denied everyone who bought a ticket. All he had to do was be there. His primary function makes him required on any mission.

In our story, when the Queen turned out to be capable of defending the fort from Dark Beasts, that should have been enough. Now in the future that could be a funny reference or an expected behavior if she is present. Like if something went down and she didn't do something spectacular, folks would be disappointed. If she doesn't act, that is an opportunity for humor.

That's anticipation and making it pay off however you choose. IF we have no anticipation of a known character's expected behavior then why should they be in the story? Let that character do their thing and make a different character that fits the purpose.

Merging 2 known characters servers no purpose, other than to remove them both from my version of the story. Already done that with Reldo. At some point he should be coming to me for information.

one can be small and mighty.

hes just slimmed down a bit.

you are acting as if to be strong and feared you have to be huge beast.

and it made you lose motivation?

hes just hit the gym to be slimmer.

you also say hes an antman, but ants are incredibly strong for their size. they can lift like 20x their body weight. thats insane. humans cant do that.

8 posts of rambling.
