as i understand.... the rules are stay on topic,,, seeing the OP brought up what to most readers gleaming from his/her post are the link buttons on the main update page ,, clearly that has nothing to do with OSRS
and as far as i understand if you find your self wanting to talk about a similar but not direct topic related,,, the rule is to start a new thread,,, right??????
clearly your discussion is another thread not this one,
Clearly this is a Website and Forum discussion. We will need to wait for the Fmods/CM/Jmods to sort it out. Please save your argument off this thread. Thanks.

then any and all threads related to the lock out issue should also be moved to other forums,,
included are all stickered threads,,
Do us a favor and use the FH to ask for them to be moved to the right forums then.
i dont think i should seeing this thread is clearly in the bounds of the forum,
and lets just get back to the topic,,,

Tell Jagex in the SUGGESTION forum to remove all the "buttons" to r/runescape, r/2007scape, Discord servers etc then.

imo there is no reason to have buttons on the official website that leads you to any other companies site or service,,
as far as i understand there is a official fb page about runescape and it should have a link back to runescape,,, i dont any any knowledge of any other social media but my belief is the same,,
runescape should not be linking to any other website or company.... this site should be the main focus of runescape and any other site should be secondary
Nah Jagex is free to advertise their Fb/Twitter where ever they want on their site.
I mean the forums arent the only place to discuss things rs related after all.
Yes, and although FB/Twitter may not directly link back to Jagex's games, I don't doubt they are offering Jagex free or discounted advertisement on their sites in return for their share of
Partnership
deal.
Let me also add it is Jagex's intention to put their games on as many platforms as possible. Mods Warden and MikeD said it many times. If they don't link to other sites, it will be exceedingly hard to make Jagex games noticeable on other platforms.
Firstly, I agree with the assessment that this thread should belong in Website & Forums so as such I've moved the thread to that forum.
Secondly, I'm not sure how or why this exploded into a pretty decent debate or argument in the way that it has. I've removed a few posts due to content being either accusatory or of an inappropriate nature (e.g referencing adult content advertisements).
Using Social Share links on websites is something many different companies and websites use on the Internet. It's a very common practice these days with how involved social media is in everyone's daily lives, whether you agree with that or not.
Jagex utilizes social media platforms like many other companies do, as a form of advertisement, to share content on platforms where many people spend a decent amount of their time.
You can disagree with that, but it doesn't change the fact that it's common practice.
All it does in the context of this thread, is share a given news article to your social media, to allow you as a person to share that on your profile (that then links back to the RS website). This isn't unusual so not sure why this has been a somewhat controversial discussion.
Certainly, almost all decent multiplayer online games link to social media as well as other partnered games. I don't see why RS3 and OSRS have to be exceptional.
On question though:
Why does RS3 links to OSRS in the forum but OSRS doesn't link back. Ditto for r/runesape links to r/2007scape but not the other way? Curious mind really want to know...
