Because many people have issues and don't know where to find the most recent updates? The main reason is not to advertise but to inform those who need the information and can't find it.

i think he is really asking ,,, why is there link buttons on the official runescape page taken people off of runescapes official pages and bringing them to other non runescape forums social media

i would want the other sites (twitter, FB} to have buttons to take them to the official runescape forums instead

one would think that jagex would want to drive people to their site instead of encouraging people to go to other companies forums

^ That's what these social share links are (which are widely used on the Internet). A way of sharing content on your website to other platforms to draw traffic back to your website.

If you hit the share button for Facebook, it'll create a post for you on your Facebook page, with a link back to the RuneScape website.

I'll guess because the RSOF hasn't been the only place where Jagex want us to discuss their games for years.

We have links like this actually for years in almost every update or blog post already, only that it wasn't in RS3:

"That's everything for this week's game update. We'd love to hear your feedback so please let us know what you think via our official forums, on the 2007Scape Reddit, or the community-led OSRS Discord in the #gameupdate channel."

i dont have a facebook account... i dont have a twitter account ,,, or any other social media account,, i nor will i ever have one , they are crap sites ,,, i got rid of fb when i realized what they do,,

so if i click it takes me there to try and get me to sign up to use them,,, , totally opposite of keeping me focused on runescape,,


i do not think i am the only one who is in the same boat

there is no reason to have a button to take you off the web page that according to you takes you right back to the page you were already on,,, the only thing its accomplishing is the sly use of your players to piggy back off them to auto post some thing on their pages,,

OK your choice but not what OSRS think for many years. It was the OSRS Forum who wanted us to go outside to Reddit and Discord and started the trend. Reason? Perhaps you need to ask the OSRS Fmods and Jmods.
