Sounds radical.

Downright heretical.

Maybe even conspiratorial.

Here's the gist: moderators can give helpful, informative, creative, or otherwise outstandingly good posts a trophy which awards the poster something like 50 oddments.

Additionally your forum profile can track how many trophies you receive.

Maybe with enough trophies you could get some kind of special forum role. Something like, 'Paragon of Forumistic Virtue'. With a bronze/brown border. It could be a temporary thing, maybe lasts for a month when you've earned another 100 trophies.

You do know this can be "rigged" right?

All a player needs to do is persuade a fmod that their post fits one of these guidelines.

Plus how are fmods, who are also players, supposed to give out oddments?

Last i check theres no way to give oddments to other players.

So overall, i dont see this ending well as it has too many cons.

Idk maybe the purple border mods could do it. I didn't think the fmods were particularly 'corruptable', obviously they are human but I figured they were pretty good at their job and by and large very professional.

You can never prevent every single type of rigging. Sometimes you just do something because it will be fun for people and has upsides despite the potential downsides.

I see this ending well as it doesn't have that many cons and lots of pros.

I think this would be a good step from a community management pov, similarly to how Pink Skirt event attendees are drawn into a monthly Bond giveaway by Jagex community management. I happened to receive a bond by Mod Poerkie a while back myself. :P

The forum curators in our forum also has a 'give reward' option in threads which highlights a post and gives the user a point towards trophies. Your thread reminded me of it. This is the announcement by Invisioncommunity which is the software that we use:

They could as Kopaka suggested restrict it to purples and yellows.
However with a set of guidelines and modlogs it should be fine.

An addition to this with an internal "elections" thread the Forum team could elect which post to reward so that there's no odd post being awarded. I assume they do the same with stickied threads. But by doing so it increases the level of micromanagement from CM and without knowing how it currently works I don't want to say what is the best approach for RSOF.
Life is like a camera: Just focus on what's important, capture the good times, develop from the negatives, and if things don't work out, take another shot !

Posting on The RuneScape Official Forums is a privilege players have to voice their opinion towards any of Jagex's Products for future development/clarification/help/guidance as a Player Support platform.
It shouldn't become a monkey training area where we are given treats when being active enough in their point of view.

Otherwise 'lets all sit in forum games clicking for 24 hours a day'.

*snork*
FMods are not exactly an easily persuadable bunch. To put it mildly. Just ask any JMod who's had to explain a change in the forum rules to the people meant to apply that change :P

That's a much more valid point.
