Like the title says, it's really disingenuous that the rants forum is completely hidden unless you first log in specifically to the forums.

Thats like youtube hiding the dislike button to try make people focus on how many likes a video gets. If people are unhappy with aspects of the game then their complaints shouldn't be getting hidden from the main forum browsing page, if people want to read the rants section then they should be free to easily access them.

It isn't about hiding content considering - as you stated - anybody can view the forum when logged in. There is just no sense in allowing a search crawler to index non-constructive feedback. There are plenty of complaints offering constructive solutions across the other forums. It's a similar case to Off Topic: no point indexing something which is unrelated to RuneScape on its official website. Low on bank space? Click here .

You have to be logged in on Youtube to use the dislike button, so in that respect Rants is similar.

You have to be logged in on Youtube to use the dislike button, so in that respect Rants is similar.

Before the youtube update though you didn't have to be logged in to see how many dislikes a video had, just thew me off because I was wondering if the section was deleted or something but I just wasn't logged in.
