yes indeed; being virtually (colour) blind, only white and bold work for me

One thing you could try is highlighting the webpage (Ctrl + A on Windows). I do this sometimes to read very dark fonts. It isn't very visually appealing, but might help you read stuff.

That tip above works. It's how I read the stuff some people post in really blinding colors.

I've also found that it helps to use some of the colors in conjunction with BOLD

Note the difference between
THIS
and
THAT
.

To me at least, the second colored world is infinitely more easy to read than the one not bolded.

I think the grey background really has a big effect on how you see colours (bold/italic or otherwise). 1/4-1/2 of the coloured writing is near impossible to read in bulk because it just blurs on the grey back ground (for me anyway) worse than on the gold or Green ones.

So I opt to stay with basic white most of the time or very light pastel colours on occasion, and I won't read over colourful posts that hurt my eyes, no matter how good the thread/post is :) .

From
one
colour
to
the
next
and
so
on.

All the best,

Yeah that's what I do, and did that to read post 1 on page 8 (the quoted text) as I couldn't read the quoted coloured text as it was. Highlighting-to-read-colours works, and is a helpful tip to include! :)

Innocentwolf maintains the Full List of BBCode Colours thread.

On the guide to signature making, there is a colour chart that shows all forum colours in the order of the rainbow here , might want to add that in, too.

Want your title to catch their attention? ASCII symbols, colours and other formatting can help with that, as seen in the example below:

This applies to actual forum titles too, you know, so it will catch peoples' eyes when they are looking for threads to read. You should decorate this thread's title! Or I could, actually...

I've whipped up some decorated thread titles you could use for this thread if you wanted. These are for the actual thread title, remember, not the header in the first post:

Pick any one you like, if any at all. They're just some suggestions to help contribute to the thread. :)

By the way, you mentioned that the "curls" hairstyle is good without headgear. Does that mean I am fashionable? :P I have curly hair in my avatar.

You could rotate round which one you use? Change it every week or so? You're a forum mod, so you can change it yourself in your own time. :P
