Contemplating Quotes


Quotes help a reader follow the conversation trail. This is especially helpful in a busy forum or thread where multiple conversations are going on.

Quotes can also help you focus on or spotlight particular aspects of a longer post.

Quotes can also be used to emphasize a point you are making (or a point someone else has made).

What about quote spam and editing quotes to change the original meaning and such? Wouldn't that be something that would fit here, miss?

I sometimes pick out a small section of someone else's post if I'm responding to something specific - keeps the post size down, and makes it easier for readers to spot what I'm going on about (difficult sometimes, I know!). I think that's OK.

Another option, rather than quote someone's lengthy post, is to include a link to their post instead. Glad to be of service :) (Powered by GPP™ - Share and Enjoy!)
