Well, it can't hurt. One of reddit's perks is the format that allows people to submit images/videos as the whole 'post' itself. And while the RSOF can't ever accomodate that – they're different mediums for different uses – allowing people embedded YT links is just one of those things that makes usage easier here... so, support.

With the new rules and the subsequent allowing Youtube links to be posted, surely this embed suggestion can now be given priority?
I'm not sure how a rule change would encourage this to be a higher priority.
It's however not something we're working on right now although still very much aware of how much you guys want it
Pretty much how Hyles and Wilf put it. The way it stands now you copy and paste the url and don't know what's waiting on the other side of the link. With an embed we could atleast see the title and a thumbnail so we know what we're clicking on. Plus, it's easier. I said priority because in light of the new rules I don't see any large future updates/changes for the forums so this could be the next thing to work on.
Sure. From a tech point of view though our priority of this has never been affected by the rules of the forums. If we were to implement this we'd trust YouTube's parental guidance and community policies to act as a filter for users, rather than inventing our own via some route.
I'm afraid there's a no news situation here though. We aren't and currently don't have any plans to push this through our other priorities for 2019. Maybe a dev will find the free time but that's not a reality at the moment though.

Could you recommend a dev that is easily bribed?
I don't think it would be a good idea but we will keep the community updated if anything changes regarding the main subject of this thread.
