Just make sure your password is 24 characters long, it's a lot more secure than 8 characters including special characters.

I just draw shapes/patterns on a keyboard, i have been keylogged a few times but never hacked. No idea how keyloggers work but if they record all keystrokes that may get messy

if it matters, was a java based keylogger in the cache files

I tried adding a character (!, @, #, $, %, ^, &, *, etc) when I last changed my password but sadly it wasn't permitted.

It is a great idea to allow for more complex passwords, as long as people remember to use them only on the official RuneScape website.

We can have multi-factor authentication, email registration, and so on, but if the password itself isn't bulletproof, then we're probably not 100% secure!

Seeing as the Op made this thread way back on 27-Sep-2020 and has yet to reply back I've gone ahead and locked this. It keeps getting grave bumped and Jagex have not dealt with the issue at hand for many years.
