I have discord for my clan and a couple small groups. Im not a fan of social media, I've witnessed the negative impacts it's had on the population and I want zero part in it. I cant keep up with discussion in big servers, and the notifications would make me mute the server. At that point, why be in it. Linear chat is horrendous for discussion, and live chat makes it very hard to actually THINK out a response and post. Someone posts with something to reply to, and you're still typing a response with 2 others pending to be written too...
I have FB, but restricted to contacting certain people irl, and used for scouting groups.
Twitter I have to follow news in our school district, I dont post. I used to have an RS twitter, and then obliterated it a while later after realizing the annoyances of social platforms.
I don't use any of the other platforms really. Definitely not Reddit....the way it's designed is bad.
Not to mention, I'm in the age group that should be so thrilled to be having Jagex use all the popular platforms of this 5 year web-period.
Idk why it has to be so black and white, forums or everything else. Properly done, all platforms can be used and players use the one they're most comfortable with. Im not comfortable engaging on social media....If people threw a fuss about having to use the forums, and so they didnt have to, why must people who use the forums be forced to use platforms they dont want to? Makes no sense why it's a 1 way view. People have always been off the forums, fansites were the big thing 2006 - 2010....no one magically up and left b/c social media....fragmentation has always been here and players used the ones they wanted.
Here, I can process posts, process replies, have a proper discussion. I agree with others, that cannot properly be done elsewhere.
I get removing the webscript modules as there's no one that can maintain them or fix if anything breaks...plus new website. But there's options other than full removal....
Can I turn in a paper without citing all sources?
