The highest I hit was 79. I never hit 80. I only hit 79 when I have RS3/OS/Music/League (in a match)/other stuff running at the same time without the external fan under my comp.

Out of a league game I sit at 60's. (with RS open)

It's still quite high. Might experience freezes. 90C is the absolute max operating temp for silicone (I think, don't quote me on that though.) Anything above 60, and I'd probably change cooler or atleast apply new thermal paste.

Here's my readings:

Your computer should have safety systems built in to automatically shut your computer down before it overheats. I wouldn't worry about it.

By the way, what application is that that allows you to see the temperature of your computer components?

That's pretty hot, I recommend you to buy a better cpu cooler. The coolermaster evo 212 is a cheap, but good solution.

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO.

Pretty much ask any tech forum for a CPU cooler recommendation and there will be at least someone who mentions this one. It's that popular.

It's known for how well it works at its price, and fits a whole bunch of modern-day CPU sockets. Only limitation it has is its bulky size - might get in the way of RAM sticks, and might be too tall for thinner cases with its side panel on.

depends what your cpu is, if its an amd anything thats pretty cold

on a side note, if you own a laptop then i have no idea, i refuse to touch there insides, go get it repaired professionally, touching those things yourself is risky

If you're cleaning your laptop for the first time after a long time of usage, it's probably best to get it opened then clean the insides, whether you're doing it on your own, or a repair store. I've had it happen to me before. I dusted my laptop for the first time after 2 years of usage, and all it did was make dust cluster together and not fix my overheating/shutdown issue.

But now that you mention it's a laptop, the temperature doesn't seem too surprising. Just make sure the laptop isn't on some soft surface that restricts its airflow. You can also get a laptop cooling pad to get more air flowing.

That's quite hot, but is still pretty usable; though it will have an adverse affect over time. It only starts to become dangerous at 90c+. Depending on your manufacturer, the hardware's safety will kick in and switch the device off, producing a bluescreen error in Windows.

Personally I've had laptops which ran at 100c and they were OK for a while, but the hardware was damaged over a long period of time, and the laptop was quite hot to touch, and therefore, unpleasant to use.

Get a replacement cooler. Any computer hardware store will stock them. You'd be fine with a replacement stock cooler from your CPU manufacturer too - the one you had might even still be within warranty! Personally I would not recommend opening up a Laptop yourself unless you have experience - they are significantly harder to work with than desktops.

In the EU, you have three years warranty on electronic goods, and most computer hardware manufacturers have excellent customer support and are usually more than happy to replace faulty hardware for you. In my experience, Logitech, Corsair, Intel and Coolermaster were all great.

Not joking with this but... the internal fan made a lot of noise and it just stopped. Then I use stuff to clean it. still did not work. I dropped it and it worked... idk if it is 100% working tho. IDK what the temp was before. I think it is hot tho bc the side with the vents is cracking. But it has always been cracking. ~God is a Poro~ NA Akali main ~Poro Lover~
