It's because it's a shonen series.

Try giving One Punch Man or Young Black Jack a shot if you're not watching them already. Both are new shows this season, both are pretty fantastic, and neither revolves around kids.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans does revolve around kids, but they're all fairly mature. Just like OPM and YBJ, it's new and pretty fantastic.

I am watching One Punch Man and enjoying it thoroughly but I don't know why I'm still watching Owari no Seraph, even for a shonen series, the main character is absolutely atrocious.
