In 2016, I'll be posting an official thread on the HLF in the RS Discussion section after every update. It will be the designated place for everyone to discuss the new update and give any feedback on it. That way, all of the ideas and the feedback are in one location and I can engage with everyone about it as well as forward your feedback to the appropriate people.

This sounds really cool. :)

we have a curator/caretaker???

I guess the pinned 'count to... before a Jmod' didn't help me realise this. Reminded me of the Classic forum. Same thread. Was rarely answered. Just assumed that thread was the same.

After all, why would you need such a thread pinned if Jmods were regularly present?

Thanks a lot, Lee - that's exactly the kind of response I was hoping for.

It makes your genuine interest in the future of the HLF quite apparent, and I'm eager to see how well the Update Discussion threads are received in the new year. :)

@Mod Lee,

Those are very understandable reasons, but wouldn't it perhaps help then to get a 2nd HLF curator? In the end, the HLF are very active, much more so than years ago when Mod Mat K was the curator, but even back then other J Mods would regularly check the HLF to lock threads, hide posts and help people.

It's true, though, that the quality of the HLF today is better than when you joined the team. I believe at some point Mod Mat K even had to impose stricter rules. Nevertheless, it would be nice to see several other Jagex Mods post in the HLF every now and then, even if it's just to update the HLF Help and Action Centre thread more frequently.

I can't help but think I suggested this once upon a time! :p

Lovely post though, Lee - I know you care about the HLF as you've been here for... ages... - In fact I was having a chat with another HLF users about the HLF a couple of days ago and they agreed too.

I'm interested as to how the RSD thread after every update will go though, and I think one of the major issues with the Feedback forum is the fact people don't understand that it is read regardless of whether a Jmod posts or not - I'm not trying to be rude, but people want the validation of a Jmod reading it, which is why it is perceived as dead.

Back to the thread idea - Master Quest Cape rings a bell, there were tens of posts for one single part of one requirement - and I'll go back to what I suggested last year; in the OP an FAQ with common misconceptions/bugs/what to dos/what not to dos, maybe? It's a bit much for someone such as yourself to do, maybe.

Who knows how it will turn out, but I feel the Feedback section does need something to make people realise the threads posts in there are read.

Also piggy-backing off of that, there needs to be less trolls and more posts like the ones that you linked in this post. I don't know how long you've been on the HLF but the posts that are put on here (Troll/Not RS Discussion threads:Informative threads) is about 8:1. It always has been too, except for the very early days of the HLF. That's because every year, the number of members on the HLF drastically increases. We have over 15k players with HLF access, maybe even near 20k now. It's easy to engage with every post and thread when there's only 1k members on the HLF

isnt about time the HLF was wiped clean and start freash again?

the release of invention seems to be the perfect opportunity to do this: remove everyone's HLF access, myself included, and give it back as soon they max again by reaching 99/120 invention.

i mean like, theres many ppl that are yet to get 99 divination or even 99 dungeoneering but still have their HLF access from before those skill releases, and don't take the HLF "seriously".

i dont really consider myself an elitist, quite the opposite in fact, but as cool it is that everyone can get a chance of entering the HLF, seems to me it should be something like the comp cape, not somethign easy to earn, but still once u do you gotta maintain it by being 'worthy". (im nto sure if i can express what i mean on this part)

Nice response Lee. All too often I see the CM team defend themselves far too strongly and offer up reasons for all the issues. It is refreshing to see you acknowledge failings and how you plan to address them.
