Hmmm, I'm not sure about keyboard shortcuts.
Ctrl + is particularly problematic as there are quite a few already assigned to chrome.
Ctrl + D, F, G, H, J, K, L, N, O, P, R, S, T, U are chrome specific.
Then there is OS specific, Ctrl + C, V, X, Y, Z and so on.
I haven't looked but I know there are Alt + shortcuts for chrome too.
Yes it can be done, but somewhere along the way I'll have to override the default functionality of some shortcut keys.
For example I use Ctrl+L followed by Ctrl + C.
This selects, copies the URL in address bar ready for me to paste.
As you can see this would create a left tag and then a centre tag. Not what I wanted. In a number of cases I could write the code to be intuitive and react according to if the textarea is in focus, but my above example would not work the way I wish.
Generally overriding defaults is frowned upon, and I think for good reason.
I could probably find some unused combinations, or maybe look into the Alt key. I think Ctrl + Shift or Ctrl + Alt would be possible too, but 3 key presses compared to a single left click doesn't seem that helpful. I guess the key needs to pertain to the action, Ctrl + Q for
bold
doesn't seem very handy.
Keyboards need a Linkify key, that would solve all these problems.

Anyway, I'll put some more thought into this. Let me know if you come up with some alternative key combinations as there may be a simple combo I haven't thought of. Would it still be useful using Ctrl + Shift or Ctrl + ALt?
