Totally backwards. It's a pain and it's all over the place.
Especially when using user input like in the friends/clan/others list because nothing ever matches.
It get's worse though, white space in clan list and from the hiscores api is different (or was) and when they do escape url without nonbreaking whit space they use depreciated escape and unescape rather than encodeURIComponent.
I couldn't work out why I couldn't decode their urls and out of desperation tried some depreciated methods and it worked.
Now I just use \xA0 to replace all white space, and handle urls separately with unescape.

I'm never sure if I should I should flip 'em. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't.
