I do feel very sorry for all those who lost their lives in Orlando this weekend, and their relatives. It's a terrible tragedy.

I also feel sorry for the 20 people killed by a bomb near the Sayeda Zainab shrine in Damascus on Saturday, and for their relatives.

Cold blooded murder can never be excused.

I don't really agree. Although we're so far away from others even in our own country, we're still part of a large community and posting stuff like that is at least something to show that we're hurt when we hear horrid things like that happening. We're social creatures, showing and engaging through a platform that can essentially eventually reach people shouldn't be shamed. Yes not everyone will donate money,since some people aren't financially able, but we all pay to the government and our money is going to help those people out already.

Personally I think those that post that they're crying about something they're not directly connected to is dumb tho and they're trying to just get attention. Or those posting about some old famous guy that they probably barley knew what they did just to band wagon.

well the shooter was divorced, took steroids, and was many years more than curious (he was a regular at that club for like 3 years), so... he is not the fundie extremist that the right wants him to be.

I don't hunt or go target shootin much, and I am neither hoplophobe nor hoplophile. Its very easy to see opportunities to do better, but the answer is very tricky. We actually need to employ more police, rely less on um... the liquid asset things like humvees, body armour, and rifles, and make real "community policing" like what works so well in Japan happen in other countries. The trick is that Japan didn't decide it on their own. They got kinda told what to do during the Occupation, and then wound up with the world's best police. If we get it wrong, at all, then we wind up with private subscription patrol security and "broken window" policing that will be really expensive and suck really bad.

The "Fix Gun Checks" Act has bent over backwards to both give and take, and it doesn't just do intrusive stuff like create a "no buy" list analogous to the "no fly" list, but it actually gives CHL to all 50 states, and it just keeps failing.

IMNSHO he went mad pondering Alhazred's "everything is permitted" and thats a condition he wouldn't have been in if police were popping by just to say hello twice a week. Sounds weird, but they do it in Japan, and it works.
