Some of you may know that I was the user that helped get Revolution into the game. During my 6 month long thread, which I called Conservation, the community rallied around the idea and we got MOD attention. The rest is history.
Here's the NEXT big thing.
The Metaverse is coming. There is NO stopping it. ALL 3RD PERSON GAMES WILL BE CONSUMED BY IT. It will be the end of Runescape if something isn't done. HOPEFULLY, Jagex is pushing hard to convert our beloved game into the Unity engine in first person (which will power the Metaverse)...
UNTIL then...
First Person Camera Mode - A camera mode that positions the camera directly behind the eyes of the avatar, clears the WASD key binds for lateral movement, and uses the mouse for Viewing Direction.
Runescape is currently a tile based game and movement must adhere to those tiles, W would move the avatar to the tile in the direction being "Viewed", S would move to the tile "Behind the View" and A&D would strafe.
A mouse click would still follow the current game rules, you'd run to the tile clicked (or spot on the map clicked.)
Being a Camera Mode will make playing first person completely optional and reversible.
Camera Path smoothing could help with the tile based movement. (Think Camera stabilization).
I really don't see another option for Runescape. Go "First Person" or fade away.

RS3 already ruins my toaster computer.. I can't imagine how poorly it'd run as a FPS

The beauty of First Person Camera Mode is that it won't change the system load. Everything other than WASD is already in the game. It's just a matter of perspective. Even mouse look is in the game. They can just leverage the code of Free Cam...
I am serious, and this is how my Revolution thread started... People throwing shade at the idea... But eventually when the Jagex MODs started posting, people started to get on board.

So like if I was flighting the anti-glacor boss I would see a few ice crystals bouncing around in front of me and I would have to imagine it was some kind of hideous creature that was trying to hurt me.
Nothing against your idea, it's just that Jagex has already gone beyond extreme mode with their boss sizes. I guess we could attack their ankles and hope for the best.
yeah you're not wrong as long as its a mode, and I dont have to use it. I like how it is, and not bigotry... I resist that much immersion and that much mtion tracking afterwards.
Im the mad jackal.
I was re3, obf1, obf2, re5 holy terror of survival horror. so... yeah. I can do it. I just dont want to have to do it.
I have quit rsof because moderator found comments about darklight bonus damage on demons "off topic" for wildy flash mobs full of demons
