We have a fix incoming ASAP. [EDIT - fix should now be live.]
We've kept it simple - the problems arose with the upgrade to Darklight, so that's what we've targeted. Additional requirements would only have limited the problem, not corrected it. Any other issues that have been highlighted by this (e.g. that some player don't find kal'gerions worth killing) should be resolved in separate updates.
When the fix goes LIVE, Darklight will work akin to other, similar niche weapons - e.g. Keris - in that it has a potent effect, but one that does not trigger on every hit. We have slightly reduced the accuracy of the upgraded version of Darklight, but also the frequency at which the effect triggers, which is based on the toughness of the demon. It makes sense that tougher demon = greater resistance.
It should make Darklight a viable alternative against demons well beyond the levels at which it can be obtained, and typically the best choice against demons that have a melee weakness. It is also probable that we will add more demon mobs with a melee weakness in future updates, giving Darklight greater utility.
Monster weakness is still likely to be the deciding factor in what equipment you choose, though some players at some levels, and in some instances, will still have reason to opt for Darklight instead. Of course, your personal mileage will vary - e.g. if you have the ability to wield T90 gear, for instance, then you should probably stick to using T90 gear...in most cases.
I'm being cautious though, they're already talking of improving dark light better than it is now I think... Hopefully. Don't really want to make something quickly outdated.
