Guess I have a couple of foolish confessions, but I'll start with these:

Many years ago (I think it was in 2011), prior to the release of the EOC , I was already really into slaying. Back in those days the game was often jokingly called "meleescape" due to melee being pretty much the best equipment for most situations (how times change =p). As such I had gathered full Bandos, a dragonfire shield and a (vine?) whip.

With this gear I had become a bit overconfident. One time I had a dust devil task and foolishly ran into the chaos tunnels without my slayer helm (turns out that they can quickly turn you into dust without that). Though luckily I managed to regain my gear.

Another time however, I again planned on going to the chaos tunnels via Edgeville to kill dust devils, thinking no one could pk me in such a short distance. But as soon as I approached the chaos tunnel crevice, I got attacked by someone using the Armadyl battlestaff (one of the best weapons that time), who froze me and killed me within seconds.
That could have very well been it for me, since my entire bank was in my gear. However, and I will always be thankful for this, this pker actually returned all my gear after seeing how sad I was (despite it being my dumb mistake).
Basically this person is one of the reasons I am still playing today: if not for the fact of returning my items, because he learned me a valuable lesson to never be overconfident with items you are not willing to lose. "One should not mindlessly follow gods or the godless:

Good read! I remember for my first couple years, I would geek out over meeting famous players and rare names. I still remember fondly the first time I met certain players randomly or at gatherings or events. Later on when I became a higher ranked player, it started to occur to me that they were people just like me. I know it seems foolish but I understand where people come from about "fan-girling" over celebrities, because I did that in RS as a kid.
