Something I've been thinking about recently.
Dungeoneering 117->120 is still going to take a fair bit of time, but other then that I'm quite close to Comp. The big thing that still stands in the way is the barrier between a HCIM and the Reaper title. I've been questioning if I shouldn't be dropping the Hardcore aspect and become a regular ironman.
Besides that removing the (mental) struggles with the remaining comp reqs, it would also open up a lot more content. It sounds like a very enjoyable ironman goal to get the unique drops from bosses like Araxxor, Raids and AoD, but I'd never kill them more then once as a Hardcore ironman.

How do you all feel about this? For those with a Hardcore ironman, do you see yourself voluntary converting to a regular ironman once you reach maxed total, to open up more of the game?

For me its an easy choice, I hate risk and stress so I chose regular ironman. The only way I would do HCIM is if I knew my account would be converted to a regular ironman on death rather than be unplayable. And with how bad I am at keeping my characters alive, I would have lost HCIM status on the first day. I honestly don;t know how players do bossing and some of the harder quests and not die at least once, even if its not their fault like from a disconnection or lag. Hats off to those who can do it and enjoy HCIM and are that confident their character will not die, its not for me.

As others have said, better to not do something you can't undo unless you are sure you will not regret it and will be happy with your choice.

The same reason I chose reg lmao. I actually have a HC but I rarely use it, I would have used it at the beginning but I spent more time on the reg and the difference was too much to jump to.

I would probably never convert to regular IM if I had a choice but then again, I never really cared for comp or high lvl pvm either.
I do enjoy the more relaxing bosses tho, the hardest bosses I will ever try are probably GWD 2 and KK, maybe Legiones aswell but I have never tryed them before so idk how hard they are.

The Legios are pretty easy. I was actually expecting them to be like 5x harder than they actually were. It's really just a bunch of running around while spamming abilities.

Personally, while I don't have a HCIM it is something I've thought about quite a bit. My biggest fear with a HCIM would be to not max it, so I would be really bothered if the highscores showed a 98/99 or 119/120, in any skill.
Of course, even if I managed to max the HCIM and intentionally died to a rat or something to relieve the stress of trying to do reaper for comp, if a new skill came out later the account would be locked on the 2715 and unable to progress, even if it did end up 'true' maxed while Invention was the latest skill.
In any event, locking your highscores intentionally by dying is as irreversible as converting to a regular iron account so that's what stopped me from making a HCIM. It would really bug me to have an account 'scarred' on the highscores, unable to re-max once any new skills come out.

But I'm also kind of a perfectionist so not being able to complete things really irritates me.

I believe if you convert from HCIM to IM without dying, your HCIM page on the highscores is wiped, so if that's something you don't want you can always die to something funny or to an alt, named like BetaGroudon? :P

As far as whether or not you want to, it would be a tremendous stress relief but if you don't mind having 'AlphaKyogre died to Araxxor with 2715 total' in the game chat and on your highscores page, having a comped HCIM is so much more prestigious.

Have you studied each of the bosses and made sure that you know all of their mechanics 100% beforehand?

Oh also, have you done all of the Wilderness tasks?

The games are called Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby, so it would be OmegaGroudon :) Chee arra said :

I'm confident at Arraxor, I'm going to do that soonish. I still have to kill all of the GWD2 bosses, but I don't fear them. Telos will take some practice, but 1 kill shouldn't be a problem. The ones that will be difficult are Rots/Raids and to some degree Vorago. Never done Raids and Rots/Vorago only once for Reaper on main, back in the day. Chee arra said :

Yes, I have. You are very likely not to run into anyone while doing them, it's not really a problem.
You will never get anything for free. Anyone claiming that is trying to scam, lure or hijack you.

I've never done Vorago or raids, but I've heard you can die because someone else does something wrong so you could die and have it totally out of your control. Anyone who has actually done them I am sure will correct me if the information I have heard is correct or not. Hi.

I made a HCIM but I don't really play it, it is still F2P, too afraid to do anything dangerous on it. If I made it a member I'd probably find some way for my character to die training agility or thieving or something else that shouldn't even be that dangerous, like teleporting to Relleka when Hati is by the lodestone or going to karamja and being attacked by poisonous spiders or something like that and get my character killed.

See I thought that, but then I ran around for a month and stayed alive :)
