Finally maxed on my ironman :) )) Boss portal unlocked so I can get the super-quick banking and back to Araxxor runs now :D

Well done and big grats!

Hope you applied for HLF access :)

Not yet - need to find the access thread :P Will have another look now!

E: Requested the access, just waiting for it to be actioned now :)

Made a load of aggression potions so think I might just camp rorarii and see if I can get myself an ascension crossbow since it looks like I'm wasting my time with Araxxor. 580 kills now and still not a single hilt to my name :(

Something I've been thinking about recently.
Dungeoneering 117->120 is still going to take a fair bit of time, but other then that I'm quite close to Comp. The big thing that still stands in the way is the barrier between a HCIM and the Reaper title. I've been questioning if I shouldn't be dropping the Hardcore aspect and become a regular ironman.
Besides that removing the (mental) struggles with the remaining comp reqs, it would also open up a lot more content. It sounds like a very enjoyable ironman goal to get the unique drops from bosses like Araxxor, Raids and AoD, but I'd never kill them more then once as a Hardcore ironman.

How do you all feel about this? For those with a Hardcore ironman, do you see yourself voluntary converting to a regular ironman once you reach maxed total, to open up more of the game?
You will never get anything for free. Anyone claiming that is trying to scam, lure or hijack you.

I would think I would find it even harder to give up HCIM post max, given all of the extra work that it requires, that said if you have the ability and capability to get comp, that would probably come first. Comped regular Ironman is still extremely cool and would still be pretty rare I would have thought.

So I would drop the HCIM if I had the skills to get comp, and you had to lose HCIM to get comp, if I were in your position, but its a tough choice. For me, I wouldn't have any extended PVM goals either as I have never enjoyed it so that would make the choice even tougher really, because as you say, being a regular Ironman opens up more content.

i always stayed HCIM because of my play style I don't enjoy PvM at all really. If I enjoyed pvm I'd go be a normal ironman. But from what I've heard, most people that lose their HCIM regret it in the long run, but if you really enjoy pvm and really want to do a lot of it then you probably won't regret it.

It's not something you can ask others for answers, just gotta figure out what you want.

I know. Just curious how other people feel about it.

I'm not HCIM but when choosing something that you can never undo or turn back, I look carefully how I feel about the outcome. If I have any doubts or reservations, that to me is a sign not to change.

I'm quite often a risk taker. But only when I feel very confident. Doesn't always work out, but I have no regrets about my choices, good or bad.

Imo, if you're reluctant then now is not the time. I suggest reevaluate things after 120 dung.

Best of luck, Hugo :)

Personally I would stay HCIM but I'm not HC on my most used IM acc. Like the others have said, it's not something you really can ask others about, it's about how you feel. I'd say that if you feel any doubt about the conversion, then I would stay as HC. Also, if you can comp on a HC and only go to the reg if you wanted the additional boss stuff then I would stay HC again. In reality, what are you likely to want to do post HC? If you want to boss then the conversion may be worth it, if you're planning on 5.4ing, or considering something similar, then keeping the HC would be worth it.

Such a hard choice imo

For me its an easy choice, I hate risk and stress so I chose regular ironman. The only way I would do HCIM is if I knew my account would be converted to a regular ironman on death rather than be unplayable. And with how bad I am at keeping my characters alive, I would have lost HCIM status on the first day. I honestly don;t know how players do bossing and some of the harder quests and not die at least once, even if its not their fault like from a disconnection or lag. Hats off to those who can do it and enjoy HCIM and are that confident their character will not die, its not for me.

As others have said, better to not do something you can't undo unless you are sure you will not regret it and will be happy with your choice.

I refused to help Femi when I entered the Gnome Stronghold on my Ironman. I always said yes to helping her on my other accounts, so I wanted to see what would happen if I said no I'm too busy. I should have checked the Wiki first, I thought I could just talk to her again and say yes instead of no, but you can't. Now I'm going to have to pay 1,000 GP to get into the Gnome Stronghold during The Grand Tree quest. Figures I would choose not to help her on my Ironman, the one account where it is harder to earn GP. I'm used to everything in RuneScape letting you choose the other option later, so wasn't expecting something with permanent consequences. Hi.
