Is there not one single Runescape game designer that has ever hunted? No consultants used?

Big game hunting method is very flawed.

Step1. Show up to the hunting area completely unprepared to hunt.

Step2. Lay out some bait to attract the prey

Step3. Noisily chop logs and ivy, fletch spears, construct scorpion/balistas and pressure plate, gather poison from frogs, WHILE the prey walks around the area.

Step4. Skin and butcher the carcass where you are most likely to get a useless piece of damaged hide (out of yards and yards of animal skin from something as large as an elephant)

And of course a wounded dinosaur will destroy 1 scorpion, but a dead carcass of a dinosaur destroys 3 scorpions.

Does that make any sense?

A real hunter, would come prepared, set up the traps BEFORE laying out bait. Then its a waiting game.

And seriously. An animal as big as a dinosaur has completely damaged unusable skin?

My guess is none of the British designers have ever hunted in real life, much less fired a rifle or shot a bow.

Ted Nugent is laughing at the absurdity of BGH.

Idk if troll or not, but here's quick guide for easy bgh kills.

Get there.

Gather 6 jungle vines and 19/20 logs while not getting caught (for trees you can mostly camp them with 0 risk as they're at the side of instance and you can just keep wcing while the dino gets past you or just surge/bd and get back to the tree). Get 1 random poison and another 2 of the same type poisons. Build everything and find out which poison deals 30k damage, then add another 1/2 arrows to complete first kills.

After that you can keep gathering poison from 30k frogs, collecting logs, vines and constructing traps while runing behind the dinos.

Ideally an instance should take you 15-17 minutes to complete.

My guess is also no one currently on the earth have ever hunted a real dino lol

of course no human has ever hunted a dinosaur. Your missing the point. There are no animals that I know of in the real world, where you lure it to the killing ground, Then noisily chop wood and build traps/snares/devices hoping the animal will stay in the area so you can kill it.

Hunting isn't a popular thing in the UK. Many species are protected by law. The UK is not very big compared to the USA and some species of wildlife are under pressure due to loss of habitat and other factors caused by humans. I can only think of organised game shoots for things like pheasants and grouse. I think there are some who cull the wild deer population if theres too many in a specific area. Organised deer stalking does happen in some areas.
edit to add: Rabbits, hares and foxes can be hunted ( with some exceptions ), guns need to be licensed. I think the land owner's permission is needed.

In step 2 nowhere does the game say you set the bait?? Not sure if you actually care about immersion or not, the game only says you use the scent of the bait to lure the dinosaur.

As for the destruction/resetting of the scorpions, well its meant to be a mechanic for game balance. Not ideal, but its not there for no reason.

Again, luring an animal to your killing grounds BEFORE setting up traps is silly.

No game is perfectly immersive and have perfectly balanced game mechanics. Sometimes, one or both gets compromised a little. Why don't you complain about having the ability to set up traps literally right next to each other and somehow your presence does not scare away the preys? Could go on all day long about un-immersive game mechanics. °l||l° Modest Skillers T7 Citadel | Skilling clan recruiting players. °l||l°

see step 3.

I'm not complaining exactly. I'm pointing out the flawed logic of this activity. I understand there will be compromises based on game mechanics.

Maybe the designers could have come up with a different mechanic that more properly reflects actual hunting techniques.

Its a moot point anyways, since its doubtful any of it will get changed.

yeesh. ted nugent will laugh at his interview in high times magazine where he described soiling his pants to beat the draft. I dont think he goes anywhere without his bodyguards either.

I am liberal, progressive, etc, but I been on more than one hunt we just set the dogs loose and then run up and knife the boar. them dino probs cocky like boars. you know the joke, right? you dont have to be faster than the boar. you just have to be faster than your friend.
I have quit rsof because moderator found comments about darklight bonus damage on demons "off topic" for wildy flash mobs full of demons

Ted Nugent certainly has some quirks. I only mention him in the context of hunting.

I am not a fan of using dogs for hunting. Personal preference. When dogs chase deer or other prey, the animal releases adrenaline and other chemicals into the bloodstream causing less desirable meat (gamey flavor). Some of that can be mitigated with soaking and water changes, but its adding days of time before you eat.
