I'm surprised there is not more uproar about this on the forums. There's only this thread and a couple related ones in other sections.

Everyone I know working on completing the codex has had an incredibly frustrating time with a handful of souls. Mostly causing grief have been Soul Devourers, Raptor task monsters (especially Camels and Mammoths), and Gemstone Dragons.

I'm feeling incredibly punished for even trying to finish the codex. I started out with 120 slayer, and I'm still missing Camel Warriors (~450 dry all on task), Dragonstone Dragons (~600 dry all on task), Adamant Dragons (2 tasks dry), and Rune Dragons (2 tasks dry).
The most frustrating part is I have been 120 slayer from the start.
I do not feel it should take more than 1 or 2 tasks per soul with 120; I've already served my time. A friend of mine went over 2k gem dragons dry, all on task, between souls. That's excessive.

I'm especially irritated by going hundreds dry on Camels. Their tasks can be as low as ~30, so you don't get many chances at this rare soul. Perhaps the way to deal with this issue is to increase the on-task benefit to be much more than 2x the drop rate. I made some other suggestions, such as a Motherlode Maw enhancer, in a Ninja Team thread: 373-374-929-65934604

6.5k soul devourers for me, with the salawas requiring most tasks. Though I'm 200m so most souls shouldn't be too rare in my case.

Mithril dragons took a while since you only get +- 30 at a time.

haha yes! finished my slayer codex at 118 slayer. i started at around 112 when Menaphos was released.

Prefer list is all raptor mobs, all soph dungeon, gemstones. i had all 6 mobs in the slayer reward part toggled on but turned them off once i got the soul. I also forced tasks with my slayer masks, particularly the strykewyrms.

For me, Guard Akh alone was over 2300 kills (post buff too, both on/off task kills in that kc), for about 6250 kills for devourers.

Soul Devourers are rough, best of luck to you.

Few updates from me ~

Over 1800 GemStone dragons killed and only 1 soul.
660 Ripper Demons = finally got a soul
3 Lava tasks = no soul. ( Have not seen a task since)
Mammoth task = I have yet to see a task since the souls were released.
Over 5k Soph kills done and still needing Gorilla , Corrupted Dust Devil and Workers.

Motivation = 0

Fahk that's gotta suck, I was lucky enough to have like 10k slayer points to blast to rush the codex, I still think that rates should be fixed though tbh
