at release of magister I am 140 of 146 souls w/ no soul devourers, and read in patch notes that now 200m slayer gets better odds, so I hope I get them pretty quick now. I broke 5k kills on task for soul dev, and about 3k kc for corrupteds (and I got all 6 corrupted ushabti'ed in what felt like the right amount of time).

still no note for breaking 10k kc for that V acheivement. that should also improve rate of soul collecting.

aside: ripper demons took me like 1500 kills and were more time consuming and expensive than lava wyrms. I'm actually good with that. that makes sense.

Seems like the odds for getting the soul devourers souls were decently buffed from the patch notes. I got the Gorilla and Crocodile Akh souls in 1 slayer task, and the Feline Akh soul in the following slayer task.

Now if Jagex could look into the drop rates for the 96 slayer elite mobs...

The problem is not the droprate, it is the lack of bad luck mitigation: if you are introducting droprates lower than 1 in 100, one has to ensure they do not overly depend on RNG.

Sadly this is what is the case with slayer souls...

If it were me I'd suggest using the kc a person has for certain slayer monsters (or groups) as a means to check if they have passed the amount of kills needed to get a drop on average. If so, the rate should increase similar to how it does with lore books.

Not idea how lore book drops are defined, but you mean tresholds as we have 'em for pets?

No lore books actually have a different method of bad luck mitigation: if you hit the amount of kills nessesary to normally get a drop on average yet due to bad luck have not gotten one, the drop rate will increase. This will go on until it (in the case of lore books) hits 100% when you have killed twice the amount normally needed to get the drop on average.

Of course a threshold system could be incorporated as well.

The problem is that they implemented nothing here, instead letting RNG play a major role again. Despite having mentioned they intent to avoid this in the future. The same goes for the Menaphos journal (which I have given up on).

In general, they NEED to have a protocol to incorporate bad luck mitigation when they introduce rare untradeable drops. RNG should not dictate drops, effort spend should.

I don't rant often but.... having killed 942 ripper demons to get the journals previously, the soul drop rate on rippers, mammoths, camel warriors and living wyverns is appalling.

I have done 3 camel on task, 3 mammoths on task - no souls

Did 4 living wyvern task and finally got a soul on last one of task.

Cant get a ripper task at all !

Completed all others so like everyone am out of points to cancel tasks or to re block ones I unblocked so now I have to choose between camping for even lower soul drop off task or doing hours of slayer . ( I have 160m xp in slayer)

^ on ripper demons I started with dark form blood burst and kinda lost money fighting them, but then switched to darklight, defender, 4 pieces achto terralith, and did just about as well with half my bar defense abilities. the biggest help is keeping north north, and always running east/right if they jump. good luck.
