Is the forums and this game dead(ish?)

I created this account back in March 2005, recently came back a week or so ago. But it’s been very upsetting to see so little people active on the forums.

I’ve done recent comparisons of online vs online on Old School Runescape and my question is, why is the apparent “Main Game” being toppled constantly in amount of people online?

I’m not really expecting constructive replies, as is the same case when I try to talk to anyone else but friends in game. But surely I can’t be the only one concerned?

Peace,

I am also concerned but not really at the same time for RS3. I believe more people play osrs because its a privat server basically. anything goes and any updates go throug without much care how it effects the game. where the players jsut votefor random shit to be implimented.also the mod teams are different id say compared to actual 07 mod teams to now, with some of the best mods leacing the company taking thier ideas with them. with the recent change from shoving unfinished content into the game to finishing old updates, polishing things and actually putting in good content i am liking the way things are heading in rs3. i also feel maybe players of osrs dont ralize they can do the old combat system in rs3 and dont have to take part in the eoc change. add the fact that players come back after ears off and get overwhelmed with content thats out and jsut say fuck it and go back to osrs and dont give rs3 a chance.

also rs3 has me as a skill, its great and useful and overall a great skill, im biased tho. i will laugh my ass off if osrs gets a version of me put in the game. so mark my words now, watch it happen. and how funny wold it be tohave osrs have a version of eoc XD

Well a good chunk of OSRS players online is bots. [qfc id= 373-374-110-66042164]Support the small QoL updates[/qfc] Ever feel like you have a person who won't leave you alone even if you've asked many times?

People are constantly going on about how Old School RuneScape has more players than the current game, but forget that the current game has a far more advanced bot detection system, and therefore more bots are banned quickly. If I remember correctly, OSRS still has the ancient system as well as JMods manually checking accounts.

As for the forums - they died because of social media lol. Due to the restrictions Jagex have on JMod accounts, it's far easier for them to log into Reddit or Twitter when not in the office, so most of them have moved to those platforms. :(

It’s just so hard to believe when so much of the game is empty.

I get what you’re saying about the bot detection system but surely it can’t be making up for that much of the player base difference between the games, could it?

Yeah even with the bots, there's probably a bit more on OSRS. Mostly because RS3, sadly is flooded with microtransactions...

RS3 is still where they make their money, so there's no real worry of it dying; if it was dying, it wouldn't be able to support both games AND the other MMO they are making.

Believe me these bot companies in India and China mass create accounts and its much easier for them to do so in osrs with a downgraded bot detection system. I remember they did a poll awhile back where they showed data that 70% of accounts were created in India.. lol
