I'm not sure as I haven't looked *too* far into it, so you're probably right

The problem with testing it against an actual 8 core is the fact Bulldozer is going on 5 years old, and Intel's "high end desktop" only reached 8 cores towards the end of 2014 I think, and, well, Zen (their new stuff) is going to be a "real" core with one floating point unit per core, unlike Bulldozer where it was shared.
