Censorship by the Chinese government since they can't review everything on there, so they just blocked everything by Google. On that same vein, Twitter and Facebook are blocked too.

I cry because no tweets/messages on Twitter for a month

Google is blocked in China by the gov becasue of a disagreement between the two.
Google was hired to do some work and provide a 'regional version' of the search engine - but got most of the way through it when they realised it was gov censorship and tracking they were providing. According to their 'do no evil' mantra, they felt this went against everything Google want as a company.
So this basically led to a difference of opinion from Google who pulled out completely...so China gov banned them (but kept all the work they had done).

Useless trivia but interesting all the same.
