Lol yeah, nerfing previous bosses to compensate for a new set of weapons' power just makes releasing those new set of weapons pointless. I mean, we train our stats and save for better gear in order to be able to "perform better" so to speak against a specific target. What is the point of releasing better gear/weapons if all the bosses are going to get buffed to make new gear less potent?! It just makes no sense.
I don't know. Whenever a new (and especially expensive weapon) gets released. The people looking on the outside (those who cannot afford it) see a problem with this and start screaming "OP!!!" - and that's when Jagex start responding with their "balancing" hammer (aka pretty much nerf the gear's effectiveness against the specific target).
Happens every time, really. Something new comes out and it later is destroyed by Jagex (triggered by the players). It's so bad now that whenever we see something "useful" come out, we fear and anticipate a nerf well before it even happens - even more so when you see one thread complaining about its usefulness, all it takes is one thread.
They messed with Nex way too much when Seismic wand first came out and was extremely effective against it. Did they succeed in protecting the value of Nex items (has to be the primary reason for messing with Nex right?!)? Not really. Other things eventually happen that impact the price more (aka range only solos and so on).
Long post for a lounge I know but..it's an interesting topic and boggles my mind sometimes.
