I'm finally upgrading my dinosaur. This was my first computer and I bought it from a computer store in 2009, so it probably has 2007-2008 tier parts.

Threw a $170 GPU in to it back in 2013 but my motherboard has been bottlenecking it since it's so terrible, been slowly upgrading it.

Final setup will be:

PSU: Corsair TX550M - $75
Mobo: ASUS P8Z77-I DELUXE - ~$145 after mail-in rebate
CPU: Intel Core i5-2500k - $190 (currently on sale on Amazon, normally $295)
GPU: XFX Radeon HD 7850 - $170 after mail-in rebate
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Tactical 1x8GB - $90
SSD: Don't have one yet, don't hate.

Total spent: $670 (£378.30), albeit this is without a case, SSD/HDD, monitor, mouse, or keyboard.

Alright Stu:

I went for a better CPU (Intel > AMD), and a slightly worse graphics card since all you plan to do is play RS, comes to £7 cheaper.

But what that means is, if you do plan to play other games in the future, your CPU won't be limiting it, it will be your graphics card, and since you are only spending £50 on it, it's less of a waste to upgrade it.

However if you went for CPU = Graphics Card in terms of performance, if you wanted to upgrade your graphics card, you'd be wasting even more money.

... If that makes sense.
